Does anyone make a high quality and battle ready confederate saber?
all i see around is cheap wall hangers.

Windlass Steelcrafts makes reasonable quality sabers. Definitely on the cheap-end of battle ready but functional.

Can confirm, Windlass are probably the swords in the $100-$300 range worth buying.
last bump.

Here's one from Atlanta Cutlery (Windlass US).

Keep in mind, too, that both sides used much the same equipment.

what the hell does battle ready mean? im clicking on the descriptions and its saying stuff like unsharpened.
seems like the majority is maked battle ready

It means that the blade is well tempered and the grip, pommel, and guard probably won't fall off if you actually try to use it.
>>34867679
It means it's not such a cheap piece of shit that if you swing it around in your mom's living room the blade won't fly out of the hilt and impale your cat.

so not a wallhanger but not much else?

Pretty much.

take a look at french sabres too...america literally copied french arms and uniforms

Proper steel, decent heat treat, full tang, grips actually secure. Shit like this.
Honestly cold steel (lolmemes) has a machete line that's actually pretty good. I couldn't break it, and my dumb ass breaks anything (including glocks and AKs.)

I hate to say it, but Cold Steel makes a not terrible cav saber that's combat ready straight outta the box. The scabbard is shit though, so be prepared to DIY one that doesn't suck.

battle ready means that the blade has a battle edge on it (i.e. about as sharp as a lawnmower blade). Too sharp an edge and your blade will chip on armor, other weapons and can turn on bone, preventing a disableing strike (one that breaks bone).
