I make $25 an hour (no kids, pay rent and student loans) and only have a handful of mid tier guns. Put 50 bucks away in a jar from every paycheck. Can't do 50? Do 20. Can't do 20? Guns are not a hobby for you.

Keep putting it in there and don't take it out. For me I know if I put it in my savings i'll move it. Set a goal, and when you get there buy the gun. Supplement by craigslist sales, christmas cash, casino winnings, etc. Take 40 out and play blackjack, play until you're up a small amount and walk away. That's how I did it in my early 20's.

After you buy your goal gun, start the gun fund again.

Granted most of my guns were cheap when I bought them, but have AK, AR, and CZ. Started buying slavshit when I was in early 20s, fed myself on venison and cold cuts, got my associates at a community college while working for UPS who paid for it all (and then some, they gave 3 grand a year and HR encouraged me to fill out maximum for books, lab fees, etc that may not have existed), did an adult studies program for BA that UPS covered part of as well, drank at home with friends instead of the bars, and put a few hundred away in an IRA every month.

This. between gi bill, drill pay (reservist), and an on campus part time job, I can save up pretty quick. I rent a large house with a few other guys and my rent is only 250 a month but it's basically covered in a week of work. Every time I get paid for anything I put 50 dollars in my safe which is an easy way to save 200-300 dollars a month. Makes medium teir guns obtainable assuming you have decent impulse control.

I worked 2 jobs to build my first AR when I was 17. Don't ask too many questions.

I don't make much money. I'm "only" 20 but at peak I was making 18k a year. I can't hold a job because I hate working. I'm not crying about not having guns though, because I have a few. An ak, ishapore, mosin, mossman 500, sks, super Blackhawk, and a stupid Taurus 45. Bigger problem arises when I try to shoot too often. Shotguns: goes between sub-$200 antiques to a $700 Saiga 12 I tarted up with trijicon sights.
Rifles: cheapest is an old semiauto 22, most is a $1300 M1A. Most are homemade AR15s of varying roles because I'm lazy.
