Why don't you own an old revolver by S&W or Colt? In their day, every cop was carrying a S&W or Colt revolver in 38 or 357. American revolvers are some of the finest guns ever made. To own one is to own an effective and reliable weapon, as well as a piece of history.
>but muh stopping power
38 is admittedly a little weak, but 357 is no joke
>but muh capacity
Why do you need 16 shots, when a single shot to the head will instantly incapacitate your target, and a shot to the heart will kill them within seconds?

But I do Anon. A S&W Model 19 and a 317 Airlite .22. Thinking about a used 64 at the moment too. Colts feel nice in the hand at gun shows but tend to be very pricey it seems and I'm not talking about Pythons. Which is a shame because a Detective Special would be awesome. Dat LA Confidential vibe and all.

Because I live in a gay country with gay laws and a gay culture.

I would love to have some old Colt and S&W .38's though, they seem very pleasant.
I'd love to have a lot of guns actually, I can think of a lot of revolvers with .38 caliber bores that would be a delight.

>38 is admittedly a little weak
Not THAT weak, at least not more modern loadings, a .38 Special +P JHP is actually no joke.

>Why do you need 16 shots
I really like metal framed automatics like 5900 series S&W pistols, CZ75s, Berettas, etc.
>>
>>34861845
Did they actually market it under that name?
Seems like it'd be confusing when they'd sell their CAR15s under the Colt Commando brand.

They stopped because they had to. The gangsters they were facing started arming themselves with semi automatics, so the police had to do the same.

Colt isn't that great these days, and S&W are clearly better at automatics today, but their old work is true shit.

For sure, an old colt is nice.
>>
>>34863017
I love a 4" Blackhawk, everything about the proportions looks so even and nicely balanced.
>>
>>34863006
Ruger's semi-autos, while competitively priced, are only average, but their revolvers really are great. The Single Six and Blackhawk are best-in-class guns assuming you're leaving out bespoke offerings, and their first DA revolver, the Security Six, was the best revolver of its day in terms of size vs. durability vs. power.

The bore's okay, the lockup is just a hair loose, if you ease the hammer back in single action it needs a nudge, but if you use any sort of force it locks up fine. I'm pretty sure it was converted to .38 special from the original .38 S&W, the cylinder doesn't match the rest of the gun. The real reason it was so cheap is the finish. it was reblued and is missing a good bit of finish on the right side. I've since put some cold blue on it to keep it from rusting, but I think the whole thing needs to be refinished. Definitely a shooter right now, haha.

I love blued guns but I'll probably end up getting it parked like it's supposed to be.

Pistols are to get your senpai together in the same place you idiot, then you use a rifle from a defensive position. If you know 6 guys are kicking down your door, or someone is coming for you, you use a rifle.

>>34864105
Even if you don't hit them in either places, 5 shots to the torso should be sufficient in most cases. I'm not saying that semi automatics aren't better, I'm just saying that revolvers are still viable and effective in today's world.

There are tons of Ivers Johnson safety SA/DA revolvers out there in parts to get on gunbroker.
Sub $100 pistols are possible. If you don't mind the nickel plating that looks ugly but did it's job for 120+ years.

Pre 1900 is black powder loads only, but can use modern cases for .32, .38 cal. ACP or SW.
Some Ivers up to the 1930s were black powder only.
Pre 1900 guns which use black powder are "ancient", not considered a firearm.
So you can open carry, CC, etc with the cops pissed when they look at the patent date of 1896 on it.
If you have to use a revolver, it's for close quarters surprise shots.
If there are 5 baddies banging at the door, get the rifle if you can. You will need at least 3-4 shots in a panic per target. Even on deliberate target shooting with a high heart rate from jogging may take 1-2 shots. Get real folk.
.32cal was used by the police for a very long time, even in Europe up to 1960's.

Ivers Johnson was #2 behind Colt in hand guns, also they had the safety hammer/trigger that the P320 forgot.. :P
