I like. Good magnification without being claustrophobic.

New. RMR is usable at anything up to 100y but not comfortable without a cheek weld, it's meant for close use between pistol range and 50-70 yards where you might be maneuvering the rifle off your shoulder anyway. I'd use the 3X for 50+ yards. That's not to say the RMR is unusable at any other range but the 9 MOA dot is pretty big for 70y+. Its usefulness might change with an LED sized dot but then it wouldn't be as upkeep free.

The appeal of the TA33 combo to me is no worries, it's always on and it's always the right brightness. Mostly. It's very hard to induce too much or too little light but it's possible. Shade to sunlight is no problem and neither is sunlight to shade. Super bright overhead light may wash out the reticle but you can cover the collector.

The field of view IS narrow on paper but it doesn't feel narrow because of the shape of the housing, the extremely long eye relief and relatively low magnification. Pic related, feels very open even if the field of view through the optic is restricted. It's intuitive to track with both eyes open, without losing perspective or your target. I'm referring to what they call Bindon Aiming Concept but I don't think of it like some special technique, it's just an intuitive way to use the optic.

Okay so the PSA after the Aero lower and the carry handle is going to be like $600 out the door.

The Aero still needs a BCG so will come out to $850.

If you're set on an A2 style I would go with the following:

I almost made a joke at the end of my post about the only people who like A2s are grunts. Good friend of mine is like that. Loves A2s because he has been qualifying with them for 6 years. Yeah they're heavy and stable so shoot well. Long buffer and optimized gas system so shoot soft. They're good rifles. Not the end all be all by any stretch though.

Just saying man, what you're familiar with isn't necessarily what is good. But you do you.

If you're considering $850 for the Aero A2 as your budget, you could do a solid carbine build for that amount. Hell if you're into the long barrel thing because you live out in the plains or something you can do a budget SPR build for that much.

I was out shooting yesterday and for the very first time my AR actually fucked up on me and it was locked up good (have a DPMS AP-4 AR). So I got about 600+ rounds through it and i was bumpfiring and suddenly is stopped and the trigger and safety wouldnt work so I assumed that the hammer had fell but the round didnt go off. I then eject the round using the charging handle and load a new one in and go to fire but i hear the hammer fall and nothing, i look again and the bolt definately isnt in battery. I wait a bit in case it was a hang fire or some shit and then go to check whats up. Take the magazine out and go to eject round and the charging handle will not budge, it's locked up good. I then push the take down pins out and get the rifle seperated and the BCG will not move at all. I end up having to beat the fuck out of the charging handle with the magazine and after about 5 minutes I get that shit out but it's bent up and now unusable.The round came out and then I took out the dirty BCG and the firing pin came out easy but the bolt itself was stuck, i had to keep hitting it with a magazine so I could get it apart, end up having to use the fucked charging handle to slowly push it out and when it got out I didnt see anything wrong except for one of the gas rings bent over the bolt which I'm pretty sure caused the bolt to be really tight moving so it wouldnt go into battery properly. Everything else seemed fine except that and now my bolt has 2 gas rings and not 3. Is there possibly more to this or do I just need to get a replacement piece kit and put a new ring on it and it's good to go? Also, does shit happen to the gas rings often when you get into the hundreds of rounds or was I just unlucky?

Tl;dr
My BCG got stuck as fuck and I beated the shit out of it, bent up the handle and learned the gas ring on the bolt bent over and possibly caused the whole thing to happen. Is anything else wrong or does it sound like it's just the ring fucked it up?

You shouldn't have to put oil on the gas rings at all, that will just attract crud and make things worse, I'd almost bet that's the problem. Gas rings aren't supposed to create a perfect seal but with oil and gunk on them that could be possible, and that could lead to ring failure. Clean it all up thoroughly reolace rings and leave them dry. After that just hit them with a dry brush that has no solvents on it for cleaning.

I dont know what you know and how experienced you are but everything I've seen says lube up that BCG good and I always have and just got this one failure. So either im lucky it didnt happen sooner or it's fine to lube it up the way I've been doing and that ring just happened to bend while shooting. Ill look more into proper lubrication of the bolt specifically but thanks for bringing it to my attention that I probably shouldnt lube it that much.

People overlube bcg. The rails on the carrier need lube, and thats it for the carrier. The bolt needs the slightly proud surface near the extractor lubed, a light coat on the lugs and bolt face is okay, and some lube on the cam pin. Firing oin should be clean and DRY, gas rings should be clean and dry.
