Hi /k/, looking for some cheap and reliable mags for AR pattern rifles. Rather not spend ~$13/mag for magpul what are some alternatives?
>>34852995
>$13 a mag is too much
idk, maybe you could shape some mags out of mud and let them dry?
P-mags are cheap and work fantastically.
If you are opposed to the idea of 13 dollars, just wait for them to go on sale
Palmetto state armory likes to throw 10 of them in with random optics and accessories all the time so just watch that.
>>34852995
just buy the fucking magpuls 13 dollars is "cheap". your values are spoiled by milsurp pricing. a oem mag thats not for an ar/ak/military gun is usually 30-50 bucks.

PSA has been giving them away like crazy in these deals but I don't need whats coupled with the mags sadly
>>34853014
yes senpai
>$13 for pmags
nigger, you can get pmags for $8.99
I can't be bothered to research pricing for you but honestly pmags are cheap as fuck and work fantastically, and usgi aluminum mags are perfectly fine as long as they have anti tilt followers and you've bought them new with new factory springs.
>>34852995
USGI with tan followers.
>>34853043
this. what the fuck are you niggers doing.
>>34852995
Gen 2 Pmags (just as good as gen 3 but cheaper)
Lancers
D&H STANAGS (best for the money IMO)
>>34852995
> Magpul
PMag Gen M2 or Gen M3
EMag
MAG800
> HexMag
later Series 1
Series 2
>>34852995
>military tier
Gen3 Pmag
USGI mag (not beat to shit) with anti tilt followers
>also good
Lancer (not the transparent)
Gen2 Hex
>>34853110
Do the different follower colors mean anything?
>>34855607
Just get the brownells USGI mags.
>>34855612
Doesn't really answer the question though.

each generation of follower design
black = Vietnam era
green = improved design
tan = proper anti-tilt design, current issue
blue = being developed to feed M855A1 at a steeper angle
if you have green or black followers you can replace them with magpul aftermarket followers

Just spent 5 years as a Navy Seabee. The vast majority of our mag followers were black, with the rare green thrown in. I always figured the green ones were being phased out for black.
Good to know the followers matched our dated as fuck tactics.

>not spend 13 dollars a mag
Airsoft mags cost like 3 times as much as that, and that's for a toy. If you can't shell out like 50 bucks for new mags, you fail to understand the point of owning a firearm.
>>34852995
Sell you AR, buy a muzzle loader. It's all you can afford to shoot.
>>34852995
PMAGs or Lancers
It's not like they are single use, 13 dollars for many years worth of use is a pretty damn good deal my man. If you can't afford new mags then you can't afford new ammo so why do you care?
>>34853043
>8.99
tfw a USGI or even gen3 Pmag can cost 120 dollars in my shitty country
>>34852995
>doesnt wanna spend $13 for a magazine
Think you should find another hobby bruh
Anyway usgi mags are good to go and are lik4 $5-10
I have 200 surplus g3 mags that I paid $2-$3 a piece.
USGI aluminum mags with modern followers work just fine.
>>34852995
>Wait for gun show
>pick up GI mags for $6 each
?????
>profit!!
>>34852995
I'll sell you some pmags for $10 shipped
>>34855113
whats wrong with transparent?
>wait for brownells to do free shipping/ sale day
>buy 10 pack magpul m2s
got mine for less than $10 each
Pmag, usgi.
Also if $8-14 for a magazine is expensive to you wait until you have to buy ammo
>>34852995
>"I don't want to pay $13 for some of the best AR mags on the market"
In that case, you probably shouldn't own an AR, or any semi-automatic rifle. Just pay the $13. HexMag Gen 2s are also good, same with Lancer (not transparent). USGI makes some alright mags as well, but honestly, just pay the $13. Your mags will endure hell and back and still run amazingly.
Okay usgi surplus.
You need to get better at searching for deals. You can find pmags for $8 pretty easily. I've also seem lancer translucents for $11

Clear plastic is much weaker.
>>34852995
Purchase a good ol' steel 20-round 'Nam mag from some arsenal.
