During the drive into Basra fedayeen and rioters attempted to swarm the tanks chinese style

On this tank the fedayeen sat on the main guns, wrecked the M240 and forcing to the loader to retreat and turn in.

Gunner responded by firing Coax.

There's a rumour that in another tank column the commander turned out and beat someone to death with a tank shell.

I heard this video is shown as an example of how NOT to do field first-aid on a casualty. I don't know if that's true or not, I sure as hell wouldn't know what to do. They said the reason he kept trying to sit up was because he was aspirating blood, but they kept pushing him back down and not letting it drain out.

That is not really fair. Children are attracted to soldiers, had the same thing in Iraq.

We'd try and keep them away, but they'd commonly come to us. Also, in crowded urban environments, it is difficult to keep your distance at all times.

>Chinese and Malaysian women forcibly relocated from Penang in Malaysia by the Japanese to work as “comfort women” are liberated by the British on South Andaman Island. Comfort women were women and girls forced into a prostitution corps created by Japanese forces. Young women in countries under Japanese occupation were abducted from their homes or rounded up on the streets of cities or small villages. In many cases, women were also lured with promises of work in factories or restaurants. Once recruited, the women were incarcerated in “comfort stations” in foreign lands under Imperial Japanese control. It is estimated that approximately 200,000 women were recruited or kidnapped by soldiers to serve in Japanese military brothels. Port Blair, South Andaman Island, Andaman Islands, India. October 1945.

I do these threads a lot, and thought I'd try to focus on civilians in war in this one.

Doesn't seem like many are monitoring anyways.

>The Massacre of Kondomari. On 2 June 1941, German Fallschirmjäger rounded up the civilians of the Cretan village of Kondomari in one of a long series of mass reprisals on the Greek island of Crete. The execution of the men of Kondomari was orchestrated by Wehrmacht Generaloberst Kurt Student in retaliation for the civilian participation during the Battle of Crete, which had ended in a German victory only two days prior. Throughout the Battle of Crete, the Allied forces and Cretan civilians had inflicted heavy losses of lives on the Wehrmacht soldiers. In particular, the unprecedented resistance from the local population exasperated the German sense of military order, according to which no one but professional soldiers should be allowed to fight. Generaloberst Student in particular, blamed the civilians of Kondomari for the death of a few German soldiers whose bodies had been found near the village. It's true. I remember getting shown this in AIT and having our instructor just destroy everything about what the medics were doing.
Basically the medic had no clue what to do, and assumed he needed to cut open his neck for an emergency cric but in reality his airway was still open miraculously, he just needed to sit up so it could drain.
But the fucktard medic kept forcing him to lie down, basically drowning him in his own blood all while he takes years and years to decide to make the completely unnecessary cut.
If that platoon sergeant wasn't there to help the whole situation would have been even more of a shitshow.
Apparently the medic was relieved of line medic duties and stuck in a clinic to do nothing but how true that is is debatable.

The Cowra breakout occurred on 5 August 1944, when at least 1,104 Japanese prisoners of war being held at the Cowra POW camp in New South Wales attempted a mass escape. It was the largest prison escape of the war and one of the bloodiest. During the ensuing manhunt, four Australian soldiers and 231 Japanese soldiers were killed and 108 prisoners were wounded. >On 16 December 1971, the Pakistani army surrendered. It was the end of 9-month long war, but signalled the beginning of the Great Bengali Revenge. It began with the killing of Monaem Khan, a loyalist, anti-Bengali and ex-governor of East Pakistan in the capital Dacca. What happened next on December 18th was carefully recorded above. Three photos show Mukti Bahiti extracting revenge on the people who sided with Pakistan during the independence movement. After torturing them for hours, they bayoneted and executed these four men, who were suspected of collaborating with Pakistani militiamen who had been accused of murder, rape and looting. The last picture shows a relative of one of these four men being stomped to death by Mukti Bahini.
The controversy surrounding the photos were that many photographers deemed that the massacre would never have occurred if they (the photographers) were not there. It was as if they were invited to a ‘photo-opportunity’, many recalled. Many photographers, including Magnum’s Marc

IED in Mosul, 2007, crew commander also was wounded.

Spent one month in direct treatment at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, eight months in Army rehab. Followed by being medically retired. Another two years or so with VA rehab.

Would tell more, but I like my PERSEC more than I feel a need to share direct details.

>During the first gulf war Iraqis figured out pretty quick that the Americans could wreck their shit with thermals from a long ways away.
>So they left their T-72s off so they would give off no heat signatures.
>The Abrams drove past them and they hand cranked their turrets to fire at them from behind.
>From a kilometer out a friendly tank getting hit looks just like an enemy tank firing at you so friendly fire occurs
>meanwhile iraqis in tunnels jump out of tunnels and try to climb on the American tanks
>American tanks hose each other off with machine gun fire
>one Bradley commander got chewed out over comms for shooting at infantry on an Abrams with the bushmaster

Reminds me of a greentext I saw here.

During Vietnam Pattons were given flechette rounds to cut through brush. Basically lots of tiny knives stuck into a 90mm shell. Apparently one column gets jumped by VC, climbing on top trying to shoot though vision slits. Well that tank's commander radios the guy behind him for a "backscratch". 2nd tank sends the flechette directly into the lead tank.

No more VC. At least that's how the story goes.

The war in Bosnia was an ethnic conflict, where all were considered fair game.

OP's dispassionate tone in these threads always weirds me out. I get the impression that he's pretending to be solemn but really he's jacking off.

What is up with those boots worn by the japanese guy?

Why did the Japanese insist on wearing weird boots?

Did they throw the infant out because it would've given their position away?

I think that's usually how they mounted field telephones for troops behind tanks

Well fuck me. Everyone here thinks we don't post here. Some gave everything, some lost all.

Some people regret never getting to serve in a war. My biggest regret is I watched them die, and wasted my life. I'd gladly take their place, I think about it every God damn day.

Not sure if *enjoyed* is the word I'd use, but I certainly appreciate it!
