Saw the reason in another thread. There was a knife company, had a bunch of bright green survival knives that weren't selling for shit, and this was just before the full on zombie craze, so they marked them as zombie hunting knives, put a hazard logo on it, and they sold like hotcakes. Thus a marketing fad was born.
