Is there any actual merit to the Glocknade meme? Is it really the cheap piece of plastic it's made out to be? Please discuss.
>>
>>34836775
Gen 2 .40 shit and weak ones had chambers that weren't fully supported.

This was fixed.
Glocks being Glocknades are still funny as fuck because it pisses off the obnoxious pricks while the regular enthusiasts still get a hearty chuckle.
>>
>>34836775
How could it be when so many armed professionals choose it and prefer it?
>>
>>34836789
Was it just .40? I've always kind of wanted a Gen 2 glock in 9mm. Was the problem just barrel related or what?
>>
>>34836775
>any trueth to glaocknado?
Yea, kinda. the unsupported chamber probably isn't the best choice if you want to run hot ass hand loads. brass has less support and is more prone to blowing up.

> Is it really the cheap piece of plastic it's made out to be

I mean, they cost like 130$ or so to make if i had to guess. IIRC their profit margin is around 70%.
>>
>>34836789

This. Like everything there is teething issues and for the most part Glock has gotten their stuff together.
>>
>>34836789
>Gen 2 .40 shit and weak ones had chambers that weren't fully supported.

This. This. This. This. This.

Anyone who mentions Glocknade outside of the discussion of Gen 2 .40's should be promptly ignored, as they have no fucking idea on what they're talking about.

>>34836808

Awesome! I'm going to seriously look for one. I've always gotten a kick out of the little plastic box they came in.

Since George SOROS took over glock they have been getting their polymers from plastic bags floating in the ocean, it's proven to be cheaper and just as good as virgin plastic.

What if I told you: every gun and gun manufacturer has problems?
>>
>>34836843
So Glocknade is just fuddlore based off of some people using hot hand loads, and one shitty model of glock? The "cheap chinese plastic" meme probably didn't help that either.
>>
>>34836927
>So Glocknade is just fuddlore based off of some people using hot hand loads, and one shitty model of glock?

Basically. I could give you a number of pictures of any gun (you name it) and superimpose "LOL >[BRAND NAME]" and there will always be a few people who stave off from ever buying that particular gun when they don't even understand what happened to it in the first place.

Glocks are proven guns, there has been some issues with the Gen 3 22's suffering from reliability issues when using WML's for whatever odd reason from what I recall but if you stick with everything else, you will be fine.
>>
Sounds to me like this board just likes to shill against glocks. 9mm glocks sound pretty reliable from what I've heard.

Because the fuckin' shills are everywhere.
Glock, by virtue of having such vehement assholes for fans, created their own counter-fanbase, just to piss off people who like Glocks.
Kinda like I said up in >>34836789, we know why it happened, we just don't care.
Kinda like how Glockfags are going after SIG because their precious baby didn't get the contract SIG got even though they've been bragging for years about how they think they've got the contract in the bag.

It's simply the cold hard truth.
Most people don't actually hate Glocks, they hate the fucking cult that comes with them.

>Is it really the cheap piece of plastic it's made out to be?
Yes.
The ONLY reason they are made out of plastic is because its cheaper.
They're so cheap they could easily made a profit selling them for $350.
Thankfully for Glock, most people are stupidly unaware of this, and buy them anyway.
>>
>>34838150
>all guns break
NO SHIT SHERLOCK
What I'm saying is that glocks did it a lot more consistently than any other specific single modern firearm in such a violent failure
I get just about any gun can explode violently, but I'd rather buy one that doesn't have a reputation for it
>>
>>34836927
Not entirely. Mostly it originally had to do with Glock trying desperately and actually succeeding at getting a .40 S&W pistol into production before Smith and Wesson was able to. As a result, the chambers were just a slight bit too large. 99% of the time, it just meant you were only ever reusing that brass for that specific gun. 1% of the time, it meant a KB. So, for a while, Glocks in .40 had comparatively high rates of catastrophic failure compared to other service pistols, but in context that really was just 2 in 100000(just pulling these numbers out of the air, not accurate. just for emphasis) would have a KB, compared to 1 in 100000 for any other service pistol.

He isn't wrong.
All stainless steel Tristar cz75 clones go for 400 and used to go for less. Glocks are what, 600? 550 brand new?
Even the new cz 75 p01 urban grey goes for 600 shipped.

It's all metal
Has a better finish
Double/single action hammer fired(more complex than striker fired by quite a bit)
Is all metal, so a lot more machining and more expensive material
Has a threaded barrel
Has raised tritium night sights
Glocks are garbage guns with plastic sights and are only good because of after market parts and because mags are so prelevant.
>>
>>34836789
>Gen 2 .40 shit and weak ones had chambers that weren't fully supported.

No glock (or any self-loading pistol) has a fully supported chamber. That was never the problem. You could shoot Underwood/Buffalo Bore .40 out of a gen 2 glock all day every day and it'd be fine. It was people who reload making their ammo too hot. It happened with glocks more because glocks are the most popular handgun in the US, which meant more retards shot retard loads through them.

Do you have any evidence to support that claim?
Did you track down the cause of the problem on every of the blown up guns you saw in that pic, and rule out overpressure/squib handloads or bad factory ammo, which is behind >99% catastrophic failures in handguns?

>>
>>34841173
And you base this on what?

I was a manager at one of the biggest police supply stores in the country. We had a massive indoor range and we had so much traffic through there with our rental guns, every major manufacturer gave us guns to rent in our range, or sold them to us so cheaply they might have well been free.

The agreement was that we just had to return them annually so they could check them to see how they held up to high use. They'd send us new guns every year as replacements.

We were also a factory service center for every major manufacturer who allowed service centers and didn't just do all their own servicing at the factory.

Guess which range rental guns consistently held up the best and whose customer-owned guns had the lowest rates of repair in our service center. If you guessed Glock, you'd be right.

And I'm not talking just a small difference. Glocks were anywhere from half as likely, to 90% less likely to fail, depending on which company you were comparing them to.

There is a reason why Glock is the standard to which others are compared.

You can always find some idiot who will tell you a story about "a guy they knew" who had a problem with some kind of gun. Any kind of gun. Guess what? Mechanical devices can fail. ANY gun has the potential to fail, even Glock. You put enough guns out there, some are going to have problems.

You're full of shit. You're basing your
>"more damage per 1000 units than other product lines"
on nothing more than your own wishes, or some stuff you heard from "some guy" or some internet meme.
>>
>>34841173

Not really. The 1st Gen glocks were like hi-point tier bullshit. I believe it was the 2nd Gen ones that started the glocknade meme, but I'm pretty sure it was squib rounds or shitty handloads that caused the issues. Modern glocks are fine. I used to hate glocks because the first one I ever shot would stovepipe like every 3 rounds. I think they're A E S T H E T I C now and pretty much reliable.

Well, the simple fact is that it's a meme. A small amount of anecdotal catastrophic failures somehow dictates the norm for the firearm in the minds of people who want to justify hating it. This is extremely common not only in the gun world, but pretty much everything that can acquire a fanbase and an anti-fan base.

I mean regardless, Glocks are still shitty guns that the fanboys usually mod anyways to actually make it enjoyable. So I hear, it usually starts with the trigger, and by the time they're finished and it's "perfect", they just put another $500 into it.

Glocktards will be Glocktards.

>>
>>34844733
Umm, nope. Not hardly. Talk to some Glock armorers from back in the 80s and 90s. 1st gen Glocks are cool. Personally, I think Glock hit it's peak in early 3rd gen guns, and the RTF 2 guns, before they copped out and started using MIM parts. 2nd gen, 3rd gen and RTF Glocks are my favorite.

I don't like the early Glock 40sw pistols, but even with the KB problems they had with some of them, nearly all the KBs were caused by reloads, failure to clear squibs, etc. Do the math.

>>34845391
Yep, you have no idea if I'm full of shit. I was telling the truth, but even if everything I wrote about my past is a complete lie, if you research and get enough extensive first hand experience I'll bet you come to the same conclusion I did. Glocks just plain work, and work well.

>>34845489
lol

>>34845750
I hate Glock mods. Most Glock "problems" I had to fix as a Glock armorer were caused by operator error, bad ammo, bad mag, or aftermarket parts. I despise aftermarket parts. Stock Glock is best Glock.

>>34845943
If true, that's cool. I'm not into video games but my kids are.

---

Final thoughts: Glocks are far from being the only good pistol on the market. There's a lot of good shit out there and I carry what I'm issued, but from my experience, when I have a choice what to carry I carry a Glock.

Just my opinion. And as we all know, opinions are like assholes.

It's mostly the same people who bitched about Glock losing the contract, therefore they're Glockfags, at least on TFB, therefore I'm perfectly fine in assuming the trenc continues on /k/.

>they hate the fucking cult that comes with them
This, I enjoy my Glocks.
But I'm a gun guy I don't pigeon hole myself to one particular brand. I do treat my glocks as disposable. I am more prone to abuse them until they break. While I baby my other guns. I don't view Glocks as collectors pieces. Just cheap and easily replaceable.
