Is 64 a qualifying asvab score for electricians m8 in the US Navy?
>>
I googled it but all the results were triple digit and included the score for the second none academic half of the test
>>
Yes.
>>
>>34834895
Yes, but it's your GT that's really important, a ASVAB score is just a percentile score.
>64 USMC
>>
>>34837416
>anything short of a 70
Did you party at the hotel the night before and came in half dead?
>>
I am taking the ASVAB Monday for the Oklahoma ANG, what do I need to shoot for to qualify for a computer science related job?
>>
>>34834895
are you special ed or something OP?
>>
>>34837426
fun fact, I came in a busload of 6 from my small town for the national guard. I got a 78 on the asvab, and EVERY OTHER PERSON failed with a below 15. One guy was crying because he got a 7. I honestly think thats a greater achievement then getting a 100. Like 10 questions are putting shapes together.
>>
>>34837497
>One guy was crying because he got a 7
i'd cry too if I was that dumb.

how the fuck do these people survive? Welfare? I can't imagine anyone that dumb could hold a job..
>>
>>34837497
I refuse to believe that is possible unless you got on a shortbus full of dyslexics who cant speak english.

Just guessing will get you a better score than a 7 unless you just don't fucking answer any of them
>>
>>34837482
Above 70 is the norm for non-retards. Above 90 and you can walk away with any job in any branch of service provided you get the proper clearance.
>>
>>34837497
>I honestly think thats a greater achievement then getting a 100
I don't know about that. The ASVAB is a percentile, which means it only goes up to 99.
96 master race reporting in.
>>
>>34837787
>supposedly scored a 96 on the ASVAB
>claims the best ASVAB score to be 99 "because it is a percentile"
Recognizing the extreme ends of the absurdly wide distribution of IQ in a given population requires a wide net. In simple terms, the bell curve is open-ended on both sides as a result of some people scoring zero, whilst others score top marks in well under the allotted test-taking time.
>>
>>34834895
I got a perfect score on my asvab in HS and in the recruiter's office. I went into intelligence and one of my biggest life regrets was not going into a combat MOS (I was army)
>>
I don't understand how people score less than 90's on the test. As long as you are mildly educated and haven't been living under a rock than the asvab should be simple.
>>
>>34839188
>I don't understand

Obviously.
>>
>>34839188
To be fair I knew some borderline retards in my school that had to take it a few times to be eligible for 11B enlistment. I got like a 99 or something, and I only consider myself slightly above average in intelligence. I think the last time I took an IQ test I was maybe 120 or so. I'm no fucking genius, and don't feel like one. But enlistment sure as fuck made me feel like one.
>>
>>34837564
>needing to prove you can fight for your country

I don't need to take no goddamn test to prove I love this country!
>guts cope spit
>>
>>34837763
>tfw so shitty at math that I didn't get a wrong answer on any of the non-math questions on practice ASVAB
>only got a 78

I don't understand why my understanding of math is so fucking awful, but I'm great with everything else.
>>
>>34834895
How fucking retarded do you have to be to join the navy to work on electrical wires? Enjoy being some Filipino's bitch on a ship that doesn't even have the internet.
>>
>>34839276
FFS I gratuated my HS with like a 1.8 GPA and still had a 94 asvab.
>>
>>34839290
Good grades aren't always a reflection of intelligence, sometimes it just means you're good at doing what you're told.
>>
>>34839328
I was always labeled as 'gifted but lazy'. I probably was totally incompatable with military service, but it beat enough discipline into me to make due.
>>
>>34839328
No, it exactly shows intelligence. That's the excuse stupid people make to feel better about themselves. "I'm not stupid, you are just a sheep!"
>>
>>34839350
This
>y-you're just book smart and I'm street smart! There's a difference!
>>
>>34839350
Maybe it's a correlation vs causation thing. If you have a high GPA, you are very likely to be intelligent, but if you have a high GPA, it doesn't guarantee that you are intelligent.
>>
>>34834895
Your GT score is mostly what matters
>>
>>34839368
If you have a low GPA, you aren't intelligent. Because you can easily get at least a B in every class by simply paying attention in class. If you can't understand high school - level material without studying, you are fucking stupid. I was in all advanced classes in HS, slept through them all, everyday. Never got anything below an A. Was I a sheep? Or am I just not brain dead, like you?
>>
>>34839350
You can get shit grades by not doing homework or paying attention in class.
>>
>>34839404
I still got the highest or was very close on the SOL test in every class. I think it was a combination of being a rebel, not being challenged (because of niggers and no kid left behind}, and truancy. I did the least amount I could to still pass.
>>
>>34839358
That's not what was being implied at all. The people who say that are almost always stupid
>>
>>34839421
If you simply can't pay attention in class, you might be retarded.
>>
>>34839430
So you were autisticly lazy. That's called being moronic.
>>
>>34839458
>Teenagers being well behaved in diligent in the face of authority
My fucking sides.
>>
>>34839466
And yet I make 90k a year, and am probably in the top 5% of my graduating class. Maybe I'm a autist, I don't know, I'm not good with people, but don't get any complaints on the 'customer service' part of my job.
>>
>>34839350
So my 3.5 GPA with a biology major/chem minor means that I'm not as smart as a 4.0 women's studies or art management major?
>>
>>34839526
according to people in this thread, no, you fucking luddite.

>>
>>34839479
Paying attention in class is really that hard? Do you have add?
>>
>>34839567
I didn't yet did better on the standardized test than 9/10 of the class. Point being is that public school is a fucking joke.I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, I feel like I'm painfully average in intelligence, but still did better than all the niggers and rednecks that brought down the total capacity for learning at my school.
>>
>>34839290
this is plausible considering how dumb most of the grunts are, half that test is from Sesame Street
>>
>>34839803
I don't have much anectodal, but the only guy I knew that struggled with the asvab was borderline retarded, like he made forest gump look smart. I don't recall his mos but I'm pretty sure it was an 11(?), I'm pretty sure he went infantry, most likely B, but who knows.

95 but I took a maintainer job so it don't matter
>>
>>34837497
>>34839881
Wait, how the fuck are people still that dumb? Granted I met some dumb fucks in the Army, but no one that that was that much of a drooling retard. Granted I was intelligence (not intelligent), but I still dealt with mouthbreathers on my day to day.
>>
>>34839894
>how the fuck are people still that dumb?
Military takes all sorts man. There are plenty of tards in all branches. I thought us air force guys were supposed to be smart but some guys in my basic flight were painfully slow.
>>
>>34839936
Fuck, I joined in '05 when they were getting desperate, and I was ashamed of America by the faggots they let through basic and AIT, but I thought it was supposed to be better in non critical need times.

I hate to bud in just to ask my own question, but it's better than making a whole new thread on the same subject.

But, what would be a qualifying score for an ACM? (68 Whiskey)
>>
What can I do in the military with a score of 98? I've never really considered a career in the military, but I realize I have options. Worth joining after college? Got a ride to University of Alabama for aerospace.

>some kid in my group that always talks about the army (always wears BDU pants to school, shaved head, you know the kind) got a 14.
>>
>>34840371
Um anything, don't fall into the trap of going into one of the 'brainiac' fields though. You get psychologically shit on worse than infantry gets physically shit on.
>>
>>34840371
Still me here. I've thought of special operations before, raised around a bunch of them in Ft. Bragg. I'll probably get laughed out of the thread, but are the SEALs within the realm of possibilities? I'm you're "normie chad" I guess, I do ULD running and varsity swimming. Should I pick up a contact sport?

What do? I'm afraid of ending up behind a desk for the rest of my life.
>>
>>34840387
This is what I heard. My father joined to be a navy nuke, and got picked to be an instructor at nuclear power school, but from what I gather from him, if he ended up on a boat like everyone else it would be hell.

IDK, SF and SEALS don't tend to matriculate 18 year olds in general, they tend to be about 25 years old with one enlistment contract knocked out. To be honest, 99.9% of people are mentally prepared for it at 18. Go in as something like infantry. Hate it for 4 years. Or not, and re-up. If not take your GI and comfortably do college for something useful rather than party and suck ass like most straight out of HS collegiates.
>>
>>34839567
No I have subtract
>>
>>34839097
He is correct, there is no such thing as a 100% AFQT score on the ASVAB, and anyone that claims they got 100 is lying, and most likely never took the test in the first place.
>>
>>34839567
For me, the majority of it was really boring, and when I'm bored too often for too long, I fall into a depression, and when I'm depressed my mind slows the fuck down and I become really complacent and apathetic.
>>
>>34837763
Mfw I had a 110 GT score.

>became a fucking tanker. Instead of something cool
>>
For the people who wonder how some people score that low, I tutored the hopeless cases for my recruiting station for a long while when I was in DEP.

It wasnt that they were drooling retards, but rather some people seriously arent capable of taking a standardized test. They freak the flying fuck out, spend 45 minutes redoing the first question over and over and over then click A for the 99% of questions in the last 30 seconds. Saw it over and over. When someone says test taking skills are a thing, it is absolutely true.
>>
>>34842760
Reminds me of the bit Daniel Tosh did in one of his roitines:
>"I'm a bad test taker"
You mean you're stupid. You mean you struggle with the part where we find out what you know?

I'm a brilliant artist, but when my brush hits the canvas, everything falls apart.

98 reporting in
>>
>>34839544
That was me. I got a 98 and got mad and thought it was bullshit because I could have sworn I got all the questions right.

Same with the marksmanship qualification in BMT. I was one of like 3 in my whole flight to legit get the marksmanship ribbon, but I was disappointed in myself for only getting 21/24.
>>
>>34837497
>One guy was crying because he got a 7
Don't you get a 10 just for putting your name down? You don't even have to spell it correctly you just have to put it down.

>USMC 94 on first try.
>>
>>34837575
Me and a buddy from high school took the ASVAB at the same time and he got 11. He wasn't the smartest guy ever, but it's not like he was a complete idiot or anything. The recruiter told me countless stories of people scoring single digits.

From my understanding Navy nukes get possibly the shortest end of the stick. Last I heard they had the highest rate of suicide and when in a foreign port they aren't allowed to leave the sub.

How does DEP work anyway? I've heard you get assigned duties like answering phones and apparently tutoring people along with needing to do some kind of PT with the group. Is it strictly required, or are they somewhat lax on this before you actually go off to basic?
>>
>>34847342
You check in once a week and do PT for an hour. Maybe have a training event on occasion. If you feel like it. Bare minimum, you phone it in once every month.

It's going to depend on the station and the recruiters, but they can't afford to discipline you for ignoring whatever orders they might give. Recruiters are too desperate for numbers to risk hurting your feelings. Until you are on the flight to reception, you have all the power in the relationship. Everything you do is essentially voluntary. I just had a huge amount of free time and wanted to help out.
>>
>>34842760
That's exactly how my girlfriend is. She can do anything I can in regards to academics, but she's really bad at testing to the point where she got a 37 on the ASVAB. Turns out she overthought almost every question to an autistic degree and while what answers she gave were right, she didn't answer them all. I got a 92 so she felt like shit for the rest of the day.
>>
You should be happy droll isn't pooling at the corners of your mouth, OP.
