You niggers will argue about everything, so, whats the better heavy machine gun, M2 or DShK?
>>
>>34832493
I actually think they're both pretty good.

Are NSV and Kord even better?
>>
>>34832493
Both of them are cute!
>>
I like the sound the DShK makes!
>>
>>34834191
Ye Kord is probably the best just by virtue of being so much newer.
But if you're hosing something with .50, you're not gonna notice a huge difference. There is no vehicle that can withstand a Ma Deuce but not DShK or vice versa. Until you bump up to 14.5mm HMGs are HMGs.
>>
>>34832493
NSV
>>
>>34832639
no need for reflex sights when they're just gonna be shaking everywhere while you're firing, and you use the bullet impacts to aim anyway.
>>
>/k/ unanimously agrees that a soviet/russian weapon system is on par with its american counterpart, a Browning design notably

M2 wins
>>
>>34834730
>DShK is not
wut, it is in service in over 100 different armies and is present in pretty much every theater of war.
>>
>>34834804
Soviets replaced it with the NSV, and that's what Russia currently uses

They're the one that matters, what a bunch of poor third-world countries or insurgents use is irrelevant

to my regret i missed out on firing the M2, but did enjoy shooting the DShK...thanks to desert storm.
if you get to shoot the DShK with the pictured tripod, do use the kneepads on both rear legs.

GSh 23

;)
>>
>>34832493
I really like them both. I think I would rather have the m2 since ammo will be easier to get
>>
>>34834951
it is.
>>
One thing I've noticed from videos of technicals from Syria, Libya etc, is that the M2 appears to be more accurate and have less recoil when mounted on the back of a truck, presumably because of the recoil vs gas operation.

>power armor GPMG
>>
>>34834730
That's mostly due to the doctrinal differences in how the Russians use HMGs and how the US does. There's a reason they moved to the lighter NSV and then eventually the Kord, and theres also a reason why the US stuck with the Brownings they already had.

Over Under for trap and skeet - better sight picture and acquisition.

For everything else, either is fine. Side by Sides are often cheaper and a bit lighter both of which lend itself to practical use, but I've hunted with my O/U as well.

The DShK is in use in pretty much every 3rd world conflict on the planet, I'm going with it for sheer ubiquity.
>>
>>34832639
M2 optic rails have been a thing since the 90s. It's not the military's fault that your armorer is lazy and unimaginative when he looks at them every month during inventories and doesn't even consider what it could be.

The new m2s have a set heapspace and timeing now so barrel changes are like doing a 240s just swap and go the .50s also have thermals sights these are pretty nice at night but during the day you just go off impacts anyway since a MG goal is to make a good beaten zone and suppress anyways. Also haveing the headspace and timing set makes dismount off a vic alot easier since you can pop the barrel off and put it back on once the tripods been set without having to do the whole go no go, fire no fire shit. Im just lettin people know in case they didnt know about the new ones yet. I dont really have an opinion on the dshk since ive never had experince with is.
