Periodically checking for thread, haven't seen one in like a week. Here's one.

The try hard showboating western "queer" group in SDF were asked to get the fuck out of Raqqa, and probably disbanded. Dumb attention seeking faggots.

Or maybe the new organizations have had zilch new to tell lately. It is also entirely possible a lot of news teams have been pulled out of Iraq and relocated to South Korea.
>>
>>34829979
I rely on the livemap more often these days and there is still news activity in Syria, even though the coverage there is going the way of coverage of East Ukraine.

The SAA and allies are pushing to DeZ from two fronts (they've encircled Suknah), the SDF is actually making progress in Raqqa, local rebels are still stirring shit and Turkey is attempting to muscle in through TFSA possession.

Central Asian and from the Causcaus regions primarily.

A few are former RA paratroopers, while professional soldiers they aren't "elite super special forces" or anything, but the knowledge they know gives them a distinct advantage of over 95% of the combatants in the region I bet since Arabs are shittier at fighting and training

I agree with this short recap plus I want to mention there is IS behind SAA lines on the Raqqa/ Maadan city front as they keep raiding near the village of Ali Ghanim. I think the SAA(tiger forces) left some small IS groups intact in their rapid advance and now they being attacked from behind. They claim 3 captured with picture proof and about 18 killed total.

Other than that Jobar is being Jobar but this time the SAA is super serious and sending most of 4th division in hopes of breaking the stalemate and former US backed FSA have lost a large chunk of the Syrian/Jordan border area to Syrian government troops.

Kek the 4th have been trying to "break" the stalement in Jobar for a month now
They got btfo in Daraa and now they're pretending like they can take Jobar, most overrated unit in the entire SAA
It just a bunch of alawaite cronies who are afraid to do any real fighting because they like their "comfy" position in Damascus maintaining a siege and not having to fight ISIS or Nursa in Idlib
>>
Yikes at that embarrassing video of PMU getting slaughtered by ISIS east of Al Tanf. And then they tried to cover up their losses by lying and saying the US bombed them. Not that any of it matter, ISIS will still lose. Just embarrassing when you have 40 guys die and half of them weren't even armed and running around like headless chickens.
>>
>>34830609
So do they ever fight it out with the actual Russian military present in Syria?
>>34831034
Quick question for you (and really all the other ME thread regulars). Is there any kind of repository for pics from the conflict? Usually I pride myself on keeping big organized pic folders from various conflicts but I haven't really popped into these threads for about a year and a half, and I find myself lacking. Short of that, anyone know where to get good pics? I used to hang around militaryphotos.com before they got axed as they used to regularly update their massive syrian war thread with pics.
>>
>>34831779
1st question, no I doubt it. 2nd question, Twitter and Reddit when things are got off the presses.
>>
>>34831818
Speaking of maybe I could upload my folder. If anyone wants it. It's massive, and mostly disorganized.
>>
>>34831779
In regards to your first question, never

They led assaults to break the encirclement the rebels got put under in Aleppo last year but they don't have anywhere near the required men to really hold ground

They are like stormtroopers or shock troops, they come in, raid, do a ton of damage, and leave just as quick as they came while raking in millions in gulf cash training other rebels
>>
>>34831852
I would really appreciate it.

note that Iraqi state literally cannot pay to repair the buildings they destroy. Budget is already in the negative.
>>

...so this is going to be like Italy after WWII? Destroyed buildings fucking everywhere for decades? My dad was born in Norway in the mid 50s and has memories of vacations in southern Italy in the mid 70s where he would be walking down the street to get an ice cream and see multiple bombed out structures.

Basically. Unless someone foots the bill but the Iraqi govt is already indebted to who knows how many debtors. It's pretty fucked economically.

With the fall of a few new districts today, the Taliban appear to have control of at least 40% of Afghanistan.

Is Afghanistan officially collapsing or has it always been in a state of collapsing?

Trump better decide quickly
>>
>>34839742
It's been over 40% for a while now. It's probably around 50-60%.

I'd expect we just pull out at this point. We don't have the political will to re-commit; and just keeping a few thousand troops there right now is only endangering them.

I use twitter , there are sites like jihadology.net that focus on aspects of the entire region. I use all the twitter sources and with that some screen shots of a SAA (tiger forces) air assault with Saaf Mi-8s, Ruaf Mi-35s behind IS lines which funny enough I was talking about IS behind their lines yesterday.

People here and me have talked about how the SAA should do these type of raids but I can't recall them doing helicopter raids in recent memory.

In past convos the question was why doesn't the SAA use helicopters more and I never had a good answer. They have the right helicopters and support they need for quick raids into IS land and these tactics have been used with great success in past wars.

Map of the area they landed at. Other than that same old , same old in Jobar with minor SAA building advances in Ain Terma frontline and more armor loses. SDF claims over 65% of Raqqa captured in this long battle and HTS raids up in Aleppo and western Ghouta.

Lastly the SAA again claims to have totally captured the city of Sukhnah while fighting is ongoing in the outskirts with IS posting multiple ATGM strikes in various locations eastern Homs/Hama wide.
>>
>>34841784
Syrian government media is making a show of it so I post it. I find this all as a war soap opera anyway. Until the SAA shows more proof on the ground who knows if it's a propaganda raid or not.

I mean how big is the 4th division anyway? Swag about 3 to 4 thousand men? If you throw that many into the fray they could take Jobar. It would be a epic bloodbath which seems to be the only way Jobar is falling. That said pro SAA map claims progress into Jobar today while Al Rahman corp claims 2 tanks and a 23mm destroyed today. We'll see what happens tomorrow as 4th vs Al Rahman in Jobar continues...
>>
>>34843864
The 4th probably doesn't have that much manpower honestly, especially during the offensives

Neither side in this civil war has been able to really mount many offensives beyond the company or battalion level, and when something big does happen it requires a huge amount of Russian and Iranians planning it and executing it (Palmyra/T4 defenses for example)

They are completely overrated, the 4th has been primarily enforcing the sieges around Damascus which for the better part of a few years now has been "sleepy" compared to the Idlib and ISIS fronts that the PMUs and Afghanis get thrown at

I remember in the beginning of June that Mandic guy shilling their silly offensive build up in Daraa and then literally nothing happened
