I really like both the m14 and m1 garand but only had enough

I bought the M1 Garand and I love it. I eventually want an M14 but it's low priority on my list of wanted guns.

personally, if I were set on getting both eventually, I'd get the Garand first because the prices on those will just be climbing higher in the future and eventually cmp will sell out of stock unless korean Garands make their way here vs. the still produced M14 clones at more-or-less stable prices.

I bought the M1A first. It was my first real rifle. A few months later, I got the itch for an M1 Garand. I sent in to the CMP, and got an M1D. Now, I sent off for another M1 Garand.

An m1a can be modified and have different stocks put onto it, optics, and attachments in order to fit your task, i.e. home defense, long range engagements, mid range, etc. However, the garand is more the less just a keepsake. Something to have and shoot but you wouldn't want to change anything on it. And you can only use 168 gr. Or less rounds or else you will bend your op rod.

For the garand I assume??? That would be a different gas plug allowing you to allow less gas back to the op rod due to having a smaller port. Thus, allowing you to shoot hotter rounds. And in the m1a you can get adjustable gas plugs allowing you to vent more gas to the piston when shooting subsonic rounds and less gas when shooting hot rounds.

Only issue with it is that then you have an aftermarket gas plug on your rifle, it wouldn't be my first option, if I got a garand I would rather just shoot 168 gr. And keep it original
