Because I find it hard to believe every other lad on /k/ lives in detroit and needs to defend themselves from the constant threat of nogs by purchasing high capacity killing machines like the AR-15.

To have fun shooting targets, then you can keep it at home and in the crazy small chance you need to defend yourself having it is kinda nice.

Mostly just to have fun shooting targets though, shooting guns is fun. Learning to shoot accurately is fun. Shooting a nice grouping is fun. Ask anyone who owns a gun if they've shot someone, probably not. But guess what?
Shooting targets at the range is FUN!

Some gun owners feel like their guns are some sort of empowering device to make them feel like a badass and they collect oper8r gear like they're preparing for battle. When they watch action movies they visualize themselves doing the same shit. They will most likely never have to shoot anyone.

If you were a kid who grew up enjoying shooting a BB gun at targets or a slingshot or whatever, guns are quite fun also. They also happen to be serve as a self-defense tool. If you have to ask this question you probably don't have the mindset of enjoying target shooting and perhaps never had the joy of growing up with BB guns.

If you want to have some fun shooting targets, buy one. If you'd also like to protect yourself against a home invasion (they actually happen, a friend of mine had 3 dindus break down his door and stab him, he survived luckily) then buy a gun.

If you think you just buy a gun and you're set, you're wrong. You NEED to go shoot at the range and learn your firearm and gain confidence in your ability to use that firearm. Luckily the process is (did I already say this?) FUN!!!

I don't need them but I enjoy having them.
