I was always a fan of ARMA 2 with the ACE mod and patrol mod. Used to have a very tight group of friends and each of us would take turns running co-op missions that we either built or we downloaded and modified a little.

quick note: the Patrol mod made AI even more insane. They would "communicate" in a sense. It was both good and bad. In many instances, it never stopped to surprise the hell out of us. An enemy group that was supposed to be in one area would actually be on their way to help the AI we just killed in another area. Nothing like suddenly getting fired at when you suspect that the next objective is going to be where the enemies are, not the empty fucking land between area 1 and area 2.

Jagged Alliance 2 + 1.13 Mod + AIMNAS Mod = /k/'s wet dream

over 4000 guns, various ammo types, body armors with plates, apparel, LBE, mines, explosives, mortars, attachments, sandbags and barbed wire, you name it. The game has it all.

The hook is that the game is from the 90's and in 2D, so it takes a bit to get used to it. But it runs very smooth and offers a dozen times more than any other game attempting a similar thing.

What mods are you using?

I only installed "Prepare Carefully" so far, to be able to customize my settlers in the beginning, giving them whatever style, stats and equipment I want. It really tempts you to cheat though, so be careful.

As for the game itself, it's a fuckton of !!FUN!!. It does rival Jagged Alliance 2 in the depth of details, but it doesn't provide as much broadness in content (few guns, few foods, etc.), which is negligible tho.

If you have psychopaths you can capture all enemies that attack you and harvest their organs. Don't do that with normal people, they will get severe mental breakdowns and start running amok. The psychological component is strong in this game, so are the minute physiological injuries one can get. I've never done it, but theoretically you can amputee people's limbs and shit, as a form of punishment or whatever.

It does have a lot of potential and creates a lot of interesting and intense situations. Shit, now I wanna play the game.

This is the best suggestion in the thread. It's essentially the most /k/ game I can think of. You can grab an SKS and go innawoods, you can destroy a city block and build it into your own personal /k/ommando fortress, and you can kill zombies, triffids, Mi-Go, and basically, it is /k/ SHTF simulator. Only problem is that the development is open-source and kinda fucky.
Oh, and you can also put on a fursuit and do all of this if you want extra points for staying true to /k/ and it's degeneracy.

How's it awful? Besides the reused HK416 model from Far Cry 2? It's got functional dual optics and detachable suppressors, both of witch are able to be toggled on the fly, aftermarket and even mall-ninja parts, and a ton of finishes. Only wish there was a larger sidearm selection and the Five-seven wasn't the obvious choice.

maybe pick it up for a couple bucks a couple years from now by the time were finally seeing more half life content from valve. if you played the rest of it after the source 13 release i don't see the point in doing anything else. it has been like 20 years since i last played xen and it is a tiny bit tempting though. if you have any experience with half life or source engine tools you should be able to empathize with them some, it's not exactly a replace static brushes with physics objects and shit it out job like hl:source was. but still.

If it goes on sale, I honestly might just for the sake that I have HL2 and the episodes. I've never seen Xen so it'll all be a new experience for me.

That said, I did have a LOT of fucking fun playing Black Mesa and they did a pretty damn good job with the game (having watched speedruns of HL I'm glad they removed some of the completely tedious shit like some of the rails).

The VA was fantastic cause they got great actors who got to basically still act like normal (Mostly, not entirely due to the temperamental facial capturing) because of how good the mo cap is.
I look back at that game and those faces are still amazing and nothing has surpassed them. Even with the dumb expressions they can make.

People really like to shit on L.A Noire for those dumb expressions, clunky driving/shooting, or the questions being weird sometimes. But its worth it to look past those things for how good the mo cap makes the characters and acting
