I believe in two is one, and one is none. During the summer, I'm a guide for somewhat technical backpacking, and a few times I've needed that extra blade. Multi tool blades are a joke, which is why I put knives in quotations. For short term, it may be overkill, but month long and up, it really helps to have a spare.
