>Iraq will repopulate
And probably never be a stable/solid political entity for decades. Again, not saying this necessarily as a good thing but Iraq used to be a pretty sizeable power in the region with a half-decent military and economic power. It used to hold some sway. Now its fucked six ways from Sunday for quite some time and we took an absolutely massive shit in the geopolitical sandbox that is the ME. Its not really much in compensation for those who gave their lives, but if anything we made some random dunecoon lives much harder.

As for Afghanistan, we at least toppled the Taliban. Which unfortunately didn't do A-stan a whole lot of good since the current government is shit. Either way we made things harder for the Taliban and for any remaining Al-Qaeda (who are too busy atm trying to regain the spotlight after ISIS stole it). Even if the Taliban were to regain power, they would suffer from several problems
>Country isn't in very good shape, and the Taliban could not into economics last time they were in charge so it probably wouldn't get much better
>Only a handful of countries recognized the Taliban last time they were in charge, and I doubt that number would go up if they came back
>Iran probably would not be at all happy to have a fundamentalist Sunni gov't on its borders
>All of the other 'Stans probably would not like it at all since it means that jihadists in their country would get a de-facto safe-haven
>UN probably wouldn't recognize a Taliban gov't, so no help from them there
>End result being a closed off backwards Islamic Country
Which in the end, may not be the worst thing since they'd never get anywhere.

Kabuli, they were cityfolk, not belonging to one specific ethnicity but it was probably just a mix of tajik and pashtun. None of the chinky races like hazara. I'm sure if I went back far enough I could find out but I don't know how to.

My dad's mom's side is royal family going a few generations back and my dad's dad's side was not but they had very close ties, for example my great grandpa was best friends with king amanullah khan and his second in command (1920s).

Ironic but unrelated, my great uncle was gorbachev's limo driver. An Afghan driving around the leader of the USSR. And they'd request him every visit, kinda strange. Must've been a really good guy. Michael Jackson's too but that's less interesting.

Absolutely not. It was a foolish war of choice. The problem is that the American voters wanted a war to take out their rage about 9/11 and didn't really care where it was. The did not know or care that Afghanistan had nothing to do with 9/11. This is one reason I support a return to monarchy. Voters are too stupid to be trusted with anything.

On 9/11 none of the perpetrators were Afghan, they mostly were Saudis who received their flight training in the USA. Iraq also had absolutely nothing to do with this. Why didn't the US bomb Saudi-Arabia instead? This and the free fall collapse of WTC7 wouldn't have made me want to go. I pity the guys who were fooled by self-serving politicians and their media lackeys to die in such a pointless war.

That's a bit of an unfair assessment. When the war just kicked off and we were in elementary, they weren't teaching anything about it because they didn't even know what was going on. You stupid cunts, we asked the Taliban to hand bin Laden and AQ over and they refused.

You fucking children don't even remember 9/11, do you?

That's the problem. We can't because Al-Qaeda is there planning external operations.
>>
>>34833138
>what is a base of operations

You realize that the Taliban weren't innocent people who got attacked right? AQ declared jihad on western civilization and took credit for the attacks and promised more.

And Osama escaped because ANA went green-on-blue when CAG had him in their sights, Not because of incompetent leadership.

'01? No. But I was just entering college at the time.

I grew up in California surrounded by hysterical leftists that were absolutely convinced that we were all going to get drafted.

So we smoked, partied and made very unwise decisions as if it were the end of the world.

Being a college dropout was not fun, but I did find that employers wanted experience above all else and all a degree did was get your foot in the door.

Still, would have been nice to have finished my degree when I still had a scholarship instead of paying it out of my own pocket. It's also slightly less shiny being an online degree, but at least I didn't go massively into debt for it.

Not really for nothing.

It's made the Military Industrial Complex, their investors and the politicians a shit ton of money. It has also kept the mudscums fighting themselves over there in the sandbox instead of Europe and in the US.

Don't get the Israel benefiting.
If anything, it made the situation worse for Israel. It increased militant sects of Islamic adherents throughout the region and across the globe, destabilized its neighbors as time went on with the threat of violence potentially spilling over and possibly incite more external organizations supporting Hamas, and allowed Iran to become a stronger regional power as well as open the door for more direct Russian influence near their borders.

If Russia and the U.S. ever pull out unilaterally, Israel will never be able to fill that power vacuum as fast as Turkey, Iran, and the Saudis unless their endgame is expecting multiple wars between the three and hitting those left for rightful jewish clay.

Those militants rarely attack Israel while frequently attacking the west instead, which works to keep us willing to stay engaged in the unwinnable "war on terror", which is exactly what Israel wants.

>destabilized its neighbors as time went on with the threat of violence potentially spilling over and possibly incite more external organizations supporting Hamas,

Destabilizing it's neighbors is exactly what Israel wants. When chaos reigns in Syria or Lebanon, Israel can just launch missiles without any international consequences. They grow richer while everyone around them is getting decimated, which is exactly what Israel wants.

> and allowed Iran to become a stronger regional power as well as open the door for more direct Russian influence near their borders.

Iran, which has a special history of hosting Jews within it's borders for a long ass time. Since the war on terror began the mass exodus of Jews out of Iran to Israel began, which is exactly what Israel wants.

>If Russia and the U.S. ever pull out unilaterally, Israel will never be able to fill that power vacuum as fast as Turkey, Iran, and the Saudis unless their endgame is expecting multiple wars between the three and hitting those left for rightful jewish clay.

You imply that Russia or the US would ever do that. They won't. They should. Israel has never tried to get along with it's neighbors. They have always played the role of the toady, talking mad shit with a bigger man behind to back it up. Their clay isn't any more righteous than mine and it should be up to them to hold it without handouts and threats from the US.
