>Be american
>develop the GPNVG
>Be russian
>the only NODs you develop are shitty gen 1's and gen 2 tanker goggles
why can't russians into NVGs, /k/?
*heils hitler past midnight*
>>34824075
Speaking of NVGs, is there anything helmet-mountable worth having for under $300?
Is gen1 tech better than nothing?
>>34825056
Gen 1 is shit my man
>>34824075
Compare GDPs and you'll have your answer. No amount of Slav black magick is going to help fix that.
>>34825056
you're better off getting a high end flashlight at that cost
you need to be a big boy to go into night vision, expect to spend upwards of 7000 for a decent set up
>>34824075
They'll just kill the Americans and steal their gear. Cheaper than designing your own.
>>34825111
3000 will easily get you into a nice and clean gen3 autogated pvs 14.
>>34825111
Maybe 7k for a pair of duals. I got a TNVC PVS-14 on one of their annual Christmas sales for just under 3k. Followed by a DBAL and bump helmet, cause otherwise, why have it if I can't accurately engage targets with it
>>34825056
Better than nothing? Yes
Its still absolute shit tier nvg
>>34824075
But the russians HAVE Gen 3 autogated. Look up the Pn-21K and the PNN-14. They're tiny Generation 3 autogated goggles... Tiiiiiny. pretty short compared to american designs.
>>34826046
Shut up, Russia has nothing beyond '91 tech.
>>34826395
sorry, you were saying? These are made by the NPZ optics plant. In fact, they were to be imported for the civillian market here in america by wold optics until the sanctions happened in 2014.
>>34826395
>>34825133
Not when they cant see them my man.
>>34826548
Oh wow looks like a shitty rip off of PVS 7s from the 1980s
>>34826548
>>34826552
Congrats on going back in time to 2003 and copying the PVS 7 and PVS 14.
>>34826548
>>34826046
top kek they're both gen2+ not gen3
meanwhile Delta and seal team six are playing around with their OMNI gen4 GPNVGs
how can GRU even begin to compete?
>>34828530
Except generation 4 doesn't actually exist, and is just a meme created to sell unfilmed tubes before autogating became a thing. In any case, is the PVS-18 any better than the PVS-14 in any way? Or is it just an excuse for litton to drain money from the public purse with a monocular that's twice as expensive? Also, the PNN-14M is fucking tiny, reducing the need for larger more built up helmets with counterwieght elements. In either case, I've held up and supported my contention. Russia has NVGs past Gen 1. So most of this is irrelevent.

>what is the PN-1/3?
>what is the NSP-series?
>what is 1PN-series (quite literally two-dozen+ different night optics of various types and configurations)?
>what are the various other night optics that I can't be arsed to list to your stupid arse?
sorry to ruin your little anti-Ruskie circlejerk but this is Wikipedia-tier information that you're too braindead to look up.
>>34825056
>Is gen1 tech better than nothing?
yes. People forget that even the earliest Gen.0 units shit all over people with no night vision, if you don't believe me look up the M3 sniperscope's combat record.
>it is estimated that fully 30% of Japanese casualties inflicted by rifle and carbine fire during the Okinawan campaign were caused by the M3 carbine.
