That kind of sums up the experience. It wasn't really particularly bad recoil-wise, but going from the cheek weld of the fixed stock to the collapsible made me appreciate the fixed a little bit more. That, and I didn't want to have to buy a replacement cover plate (the one that came with mine was insanely loose and rattled loudly) and rubber piece so I just shelved the thing in case I have a desire to use it someday.

Yeah I've got them both, it's just a single screw holding the stock in place. I actually just swapped back to fixed last night after about a year and a half with the folder on it. The fixed stock is the most comfy fixed stock on a scary ass salt rifle I've ever used, and the folder is my favorite wire folding stock

I love this gun. My Maadi has been getting all of my 7.62x39 love for the past year but whenever I take this thing out of the safe and fondle it I love it even more

It's got to be the vz. I love how the vz feels, especially with the fixed stock, and using stripper clips is the most fun loading method IMO.
I can't wait to get my poly folder slr-10x trio one of these years and give it some close competition, but I know it won't be toppled.
Might go take a few shots with it in the back yard tonight. I just got done pockmarking some large rocks into clouds of white dust with the psl a few mins ago too. Tulammo doesn't seem as bad as people say.

Just my opinion, but nothing I can't carry around and aim with relatively easily due to weight would ever be my favorite gun.
The 556 version of that is a pretty sweet toy though so I know that would be fun too, too bad molot is banned now. But they sure took their sweet time importing more rpks since the first batch in late 2012 when I got mine, so I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up regardless.

Yea the issue is non-existent on AK's I believe. There's an ALG recoil spring that's supposed to make cycling rounds smoother but it's doesn't have an effect on the bolt carrier's force. I might do this some day but it's probably a dimished return on my rifle.

Check AKfiles. I found a guy selling Russian slings for $10 apiece, $5 shipping. Got one for my V12 and my M74

The Russian ones are pretty THICC and dont move as freely as other ones. Apex sells Bulgarian AK slings for like $5; they're thinner material and have a lot more freedom of motion.

It's very hard to say. I like the better barrel on the FAL and since it's my first build from a kit, it's very special to me. However, I like the G3 better for some reason. It just feels right to me. I haven't actually shot my FAL yet since the locking shoulder comes in tomorrow but the one I have shot feels pretty much the same as my PTR. If I had to choose one though, I'd probably pick the FAL though because of the previous reasons and they're harder to come by.
