You guys think you could fire a 3.5in twelve gauge round from a single shot H&R topper model 88 with no ill effects? I know the reason pumps can't is because the fired shell gets hung in the chamber but would a single shot have any issues or chamber pressure concerns?
Does it say it's chambered for 3.5"? If it is there shouldn't be any problems.

You could probably fire it, but you would fuck up the gun.

No it's only a 3in model. My reason for asking is, I've seen guys fire 3.5in turkey loads in 3in chambers and the only issues noted were that the forearm sides itself to the rear, and they are a pain to pump out because after a 3.5 inch fires it doesn't want to fit in the chamber completely.
I'm in grizzly bear territory and this is my only firearm, so I'm wanting to carry 3.5in slugs. There isn't any worthy videos on YouTube about 3.5in slugs in general so getting information is slim (as far as ballistic performance goes)
A 3.5 inch will fit in the chamber of 3in shotguns but ejecting them from a pump is difficult, a single shot shouldn't have this problem. Are 3.5in shells within SAMMI specs of 3in shotgun chambers, and how do 3in 1oz foster slugs compare to whatever 3.5inch slugs are on the market, if any?
