I hope this isn't the end of North Korea. They're fascinating and I see no reason to disallow their existence, we commit more atrocities against mankind than they do. It's neat having the remainents of these fanatical Cold War era Communists still around, the crazy enlightened ones that worship their leader like a living God. They're like a novelty for nation states, and I've always wanted to visit after watching documentaries

Yes. It's probably their best option still, given the situation they're in. I would like for them not to have icbm's, but if I were them I would still do it but not issue threats every time I launched. The regime is only concerned with its own survival so an actual military action beyond randomly shelling South Koreans is a ridiculous choice. Having a couple of long range nukes in your back pocket for negotiating is a great choice.
