The mountains of the middle East get cold as fuck but there is rarely any precipitation hence why it always looks warm.

People who live in colder climates are more civilized because they have to work together in order to not die in the cold. For example, you have to work together to create buildings and to live in them together without conflict. They are probably smarter too because of their having to survive the cold.

If you are at war, it is most likely with less civilized people, who wouldn't be the ones in cold climates.

You sound like a guy who never was so cold that his uncovered skin felt like on fire for atleast 2 hours or more or having too much layers on that you begin to sweat like in the middle of the sahara which with some minutes cools your body even more and you will start to feel the burning feeling over your whole body. Maybe trying to dig a trench and not getting it to work because of the frozen ground. Trying to make a fire that doesn't collapse on itself. Trying to find cover in a wasteland full of rocks and snow. It being so cold that it doesn't snow.
