Hardly, 509 and FNS compact share the same guts. That's why the guide rod is recessed on the 509. That whole gun is nothing but a money saving design. It's actually a nice shooter though which makes it a shame it comes from a fucked up company. The FNS required factory level maintenance every 2000 rounds. I called FN and asked them about it. The woman on the phone went on about how people leave their SCARs in the safe and the oil congeals and then they want warranty work done. What?

It means that the magazine release barely works. The slide stop is extremely hard to actuate one handed and the the back strap still isn't shaped quite right. The only thing that gun has going for it is a short trigger reset. Like I said, I'm sure the second generation of it will be amazing.

Yes I have. It's a great gun. I prefer the Glock 19 but admit the PPQ has a better trigger and is just as good or better than the Glock 19.

Something about the PPQ "feels" sort of flimsy or cheap in a way that the Glock does not. I have no justification for this, just a preference.
I have owned a PPS too btw, probably the best single stack slimline 9mm you can get.

It gets good reviews for shootability.
The design heats up the frame, not good for range toy.
Hard to break down and clean from what everyone says, requires tear down tool.

It seems like an ideal semi-auto for a gun woman who lacks the strength to pull back a normal slide and has her boyfriend/husband clean the gun for her.
