I've done this since I was about 10, and I'm 26 now. It's always been the worst form of escapism, to think of a fantasy world that runs parallel to your own life, with battles and wars happening as your life changes or has difficulty, victorious occupations during the good times, ect.

I don't know how the fuck to think like a regular person, and the shit terrifies me when I realize I've spent almost all my life where I've been fully sentient thinking that way. I've never told another living being this about myself, and I can't do it cos I know it's about the most autistic and mentally ill thing a person can do.

Not quite as autistic but yeah it's gotten to the point where I spend the majority of my time both at work and home fantasizing. It's usually just random power/sex/accomplishment fantasies, which I imagine is pretty normal, not that I've actually asked anyone.
I'm kind of worried now though since I'm almost never really present, and I always miss details and don't pay attention to what is happening around me. And if someone demands that attention from me I get considerably angry at them for interrupting me, though I obviously don't show it. I'm either depressed or in a bad mood most of the time now.
Maybe I should make a tulpa, I dunno

Not that anon, but I'm similar and have been since 5. I became a writefag though, and since middle school the fantasies have always been designed to facilitate writing. In response to your hypothesis though, while I'm not overly satisfied with the state of the world, I am actually quite happy with my life. I've accomplished a decent share of my dreams for 21, had lots of good experiences, and learned a lot of shit. Things are a little rough at the moment, but strangely I seem to fantasize less that way though I'd rather focus on it more.

You know what's weird is, when I was a teenager, I REALLY wanted to be a writer, a journalist specifically. I ended up saying screw it after reading an article about how next to impossible it was to become a gun writer that actually could get published. Reading Garry James articles since I was like 14 is what inspired me. I also really enjoyed writing stories for history assignments in HS, but felt like the odd man out when I realized my papers were ten pages long, while everyone else wrote 3/4 of a page...so I felt ashamed for being so enthusiastic about something it seemed I shouldn't have been.

Weird, I haven't thought about this shit in years. I was a way happier person when I embraced those parts of me, now it's so repressed that I'm not even interested anymore.
