Do it, I don't really like 40 but if I owned one it would be a USP. You can also get different barrel and convert to other caliber. Verify everything is working and check that the barrel is clean and shiny, if its dirty gun you should still be able to see some luster under all the carbon.

Yeah Glocks are easily the best go-to/default gun. Get the one you like best, 19,17,26,34... Easy to shoot, easy to detail strip, you can customize it to your liking, just like an AR. Mags are dirt cheap, blah blah blah..,

Then you can venture into the 1911/DA/SA world as you see fit. You'll need to do a lot of research before you find your grail gun. The fact that you've settled on two completely different platforms in different calibers indicates that you have a lot of reading up to do.

After I get my Glocks in order, I'm diving headfirst into 1911 land. There's nothing like a good 1911, let me tell you huwhat.

FWIW BTF(brass to face) "malfunctions" are pretty common with those. Seems to be a typically be a problem that a specific gun will or wont have at all. Some are totally fine, some do it all the time, and some only do it with shitty ammo. Fixing it is a bitch though.

My g19 used to do that. Got rid of the thing.


The shadow is a good gun if you're looking for just range/hd use. Poor choice for carry of course.

Both the 226 and 1911 are good guns. 1911 tends to be more finicky/maintenance heavy while the p226 is much thicker and imho less fun to shoot.

Personally I'd go with a 9mm 1911 because i love 1911s but hate paying .45 prices for ammo. The extra 2 rounds per mag is nice too.

P226 was my first handgun, only downside is it sucks because now every other 9mm handgun i shoot feels like shit compared to the p226 lol. Maybe start with a lesser gun like glock or hk and move up to a sig later in life
