Speaking of axes,

Does anyone know the advantages and disadvantages of the two metal wedges?

Want my hang to be really tight and to sit proud of the head of my axe,

And which wood should i use for the wedge itself? Hickory like the handle or does it not matter that much?

Basically using two means increasing the surface area on the wooden spacer so it doesn't rattle out, bit more pressure to adjust for humidity shrinkage and all that. They are a bit of a cunt of a thing to deal with when re-hanging the head to try and dig out.
Wooden wedge can be anything really, generally something similar to the handle is fine as long as its decently tough and hard.

It's not different, but this is KTG so I have to ask. Saw pic related at Cabelas yesterday. Is this a good deal? Is the knife any good? I don't NEED a new knife, but at that price I can chuck it in with my camping gear or in my truck.

Guys. What is the perfect EDC knife? Does one exist with the following criteria?

>supersteel
>carbon fiber handle, preferably 3D for comfort
>flipper
>spidy hole for the spidy flick
>thin pointy blade for slicing, not tactical shit
>>
>>34834376
>>34834385

No, not specifically, although putting more weight towards where the point would have been does give it more momentum. That is useful for more cutting power when swinging. But to answer your question, no.
>>
>>34818669

where did you get that axe?

My understanding is Husky axes are selling second-best rebadged Hultafors. Which drove me berserk with axe-nerd-rage, because I wanted the genuine article. Finally found one on a web site in Finland. They even had free shipping.

I love my Sveedish sledge. It's like a goddam lightsaber for wood. But for general purposes I intend to stick to my old Collins axes. Vintage American steel is tougher than shit and still takes a good enough edge to split well.

They're not wrong but I'd imagine they're thinking of batoning with the junglas which is a task better accomplished by an axe of some sort. Not to disparage batoning entirely but these days people act like it should be plan A and then try to split shit as thick as their leg which is the reason for like 75% of the broken knives you see on the internet. Hatchet + knife is the standard, maybe a folding saw. Back when I still did innawoods stuff I had a small knife and an 18" machete, you'll have to see what works for you as a function of the activities you do + the vegetation in your area.

Eh no thanks. It's a cool knife, never heard of it, but it's not what I'm looking for. Too thick of a blade, lot going on with the style, and the backspacer is overkill and makes it heavier than needed. The pocket clip makes it stick out a lot too.

I want a something a little more gentleman carry like. Not so busy, understated, hides in the pocket.

Funny you mention that. I already have a CA legal Kershaw lauch. It's a solid little boxcutter.
>>34839303
I might give BladeOps a try later on. I mostly want a good auto knife just because I can. I currently EDC my Benchmade Boost and that's good enough for me.
>>
>>34842291
What state are you from? Are auto knives legal to carry where you live?
>>
>>34842289

Hello electionfag.

That's barely suitable for self-defense, pepper spray would be a better option. Frankly pepper spray is a more attractive option than a knife anyway but I usually recommend someone have both.

Where are you?

repeatedly switching between MA (ugh) and RI

So an auto knife is out of the question and so is a Ti-Lite. You should take a look at Benchmade's mini Griptilian or a Mini barrage if you want something spring assisted.

Not sure if he knows, but they recently discontinued that line. Had a lot of economical knives that were pretty solid.

OK, so this is the "spare bedroom" in your mansion... when was the last time it was slept in and why the fuck was it not made up at some point since that time?
>>
>>34843137
American Kami?
looks like DJ's work
>>
>>34845183
Yeah that one.

I had one. It was a fucking tank. I don't think I'd have been able to break it if I tried.

Watch Himalayan Imports subforum on Bladeforums. That's where they put their blemished versions and post their sales. You can get knives for a lot cheaper than what you'd get on their website if you're fast enough to see one of their sales and grab it before someone else does.

I know a 5-person family who lives in a trailer home and even they have a spare room for guests, you must be 3rd world as fuck for this to seem like a mansion to you.

>>
>>34851057
Big knife. Axes are for chopping. Hatchets IMHO are fucking useless.
>>
>>34851507

I've had one for years, they're great multi-tools. You're not going to be cutting down trees or splitting logs with one but they snip through heavier kindling quite neatly.
>>
>>34851507
Not too bad. They're fun to throw. They don't handle gravely dirt too well
>>
>>34851524
hatchets are great if you are roughing it in the wilderness. you can carry it around on your pack. it's lighter that an axe, and the size is less cumbersome. you can chop up large branches for firewood. you don't need to be able to fell a tree.
>>
>>34851596
Bleah. My old Collins boy's axe is the smallest chopping tool I find I can do anything worth doing with. And it packs just fine.
>>
>>34849135
The notion of a spare bedroom is not the issue, you fucking imbecile, but that you have to point it out as a defense of not making a bed. In fact, in this case, it's even WORSE- as there is no reason for a spare bedroom to be in shambles with the pillow on the fucking floor.
