What does everyone think? What sort of loads do you think you can get from this projectile? Highest possible fps but still safe.
Also will this sub sonic go through level 3a armor? The core is only 130 brinell so I doubt that a bit.

If your rifle round can't penetrate IIIa armor, why the fuck are you using it.
>>
>>34815982
SUB SONIC
>>
>>34815987
This. Russian and US 7.62mm are different diameter.
>>
>>34815987
Does it really make a difference danger wise?
>>
>>34816048
Really? From just a .002 difference?
>>
>>34815987
>>34816011
The Russians measure bullet diameter differently while we measure the lands they measure the grooves.
>US 7.62 .308
>Soviet 7.62 .311
>>
>>34816069
When you're dealing with 50,000 PSI yes it does
>>
Just do it OP

People on /k/ reload 7.62x54R with .308 diameter projectiles all the time

And if you call them out on it they're like "lmao it's not a big deal senpai"

So go ahead OP, /k/ clearly approves
>>
>>34815972
I reload .30-06 with pulled 7.62x54 bullets all the time. The thing is I use a lee bullet sizing die to swage the bullet down to .308 first.

I don't think it would be a good bullet for 300 blackout. It ends up being a long bullet which is acceptable for 30-06 (actually what shoots best out of my garand) but would cause case capacity issues in 300 blackout.

If you want cheap blackout ammo, cast for it. I have heard people get good results with the lee .311 dia 150gr bullet when powder coated in the 300 blackout
>>
>>34815972
I wouldn't because of the difference in the way Euros and Burgers measure bore (grooves vs lands) makes that silvertip bullet actually .312/.311

This would normally cause a bit of a pressure spike, something manageable with a good load, but the silvertip is COPPER WASHED MILD STEEL JACKET.

That copper wash isn't enough to squeeze the .003" and will cause shorten barrel lifespan significantly.

>>34816011
shooting a .311 bullet out of a .308 bore has almost no effect, and certainly no negative effects
the excess swages down when fired

If Austria-Hungary got away with rechambering mosins to 8x56 without rebarreling them I'd say a measly ~.0035 is nothing to worry about
>>
>>34818099
Except it's copper washed steel sooooo
>>

>Put a bullet too small through the bore
>works
>HOLY SHIT GUYS MUST BE INTERCHANGEABLE
>>
>>34815972

If you want cheap 300blk, it's out there. Octane munitions in particular.

It's shit, but it's good brass if you want to reload. Just consider it good brass with the bullets primer and powder included as a bonus.

Got 100 220grs for about 38c/rnd
>>
>>34818231
oh no, a low end mild steel jacket, what ever shall I do?
shit's as softer than a soupcan, while it does have an effect, that effect will be that you'd possibly have to rebarrel your gun in 20 years if you shoot nothing but that load
>>
>>34816275
7.62x53r is a thing you know
>>
>>34815972
.300BLK is .308 caliber
7.62x54mmR is .312 caliber

Do not do this.
>>
>>34818138
Yes it is you fucktard, you can drill a larger bore.
>>
>>34818738
Care to explain to me what exactly you're trying to say?
>>
>>34816349
>The thing is I use a lee bullet sizing die to swage the bullet down to .308 first.

Good accuracy? I tried this with another caliber and had shit results, because the jacket will spring back out a couple thou, leaving a nicely swaged lead core loose in the jacket. Never tried it on a gilded metal jacketed bullet though.

>>34818857
obviously bullet drill bigger hole
