Who else here getting in on that free voluntary upgrade?

How many companies can honestly give free upgrades to their customers on the fly?

This is why SIG is #1

>>
>>34817919
But, um, that's racist
>>34814715
At least Sig is open about their failures. Glock would deny it. "Our guns are perfect," and then secretly fix the issue. Like theyve done in the past.
>>
>>34817939
But sig literally did deny it though. After the Dallas pd recalled them and that police office who got shot sued them, they issued a bs statement claiming that they were drop safe. Then mere hours later, omahaoutdoors released their slow motion high def video conclusively proving that they werent drop safe. Then they came up with a new line of bullshit, saying that it was drop safe from all but an extremely specific angle. Then there were more videos showing that hitting the back of the slide can cause it to fire too, so it's not just the triggers mass pulling it back that's causing it. Now sig has come out with the "voluntary upgrade" because they know how much is on the line with this thing.

Literally one of the most disengenuous companies I've ever seen.
>>
>>34818004
Any company is going to deny only one instance of a failure. But they owned up to it once their was a pattern. And the issue must have already been fixed on the new models considering how they have the fix less than a week from it becoming a known issue and the army models already have this fix.
Apple or Glock are more likely to sue you for trying to bash their perfect product.
>>

>Didn't immediately test their gun when the first few reports came out and called their consumers liars
>HURRR DURRRR SIG IS GREATEST
>>
If you send your gun in for the recall you are making it more unsafe.

"If you build it completely drop safe, you legitimize mishandling. Inherently guns are not meant to be dropped, and are unsafe when dropped.”

Pretentious bullshit to the nth degree as always from sig.

Shame how absolutely shit the company has become.
>>
>>34818361
When? Last I heard the R51 still doesn't work.
>>
>>34818346
because thebgun meets safety standards for drop safety (although those atandards may be insufficient), so they don't have to call it a recall
plus, by not calling it a recall, they protect themselves legally in the case of a lawsuit because they aren't admittong there's a flaw

pretty par for the course

>>
>>34818648
Wait that was the ceo that said that
Thats really disappointing.
>>
>>34812890
I've never owned a Sig, but I will tell you that I am impressed when a company fixes its fuckups. I was unfortunately on the buying end of a brand new Ruger LCP, the gun with in my humble opinion the worst trigger ever invented, and Ruger absolutely refused warranty service to myself and thousands of others. Instead, they just developed the LCP Custom and LCP2 with updated trigger. I keep the damn thing in my range bag now just to show everyone I shoot with what a massively inaccurate and borderline unsafe piece of shit it is.

Sig may be no different, but in Sig's case it isn't even debatable that this is a safety issue. Fixing it makes economic sense. Ruger's decision not to fix their LCP triggers probably made economic sense to them as well because they know a lot of people will keep buying Ruger even if they throw an occasional dud model and refuse to support/fix it.

By the way, an LCP will do the exact thing Sig is worried about when dropped...Ruger got around this by simply saying not to carry with a round in the chamber.
>>
>>34818232
>“Drop safe,” Cohen explained, “Those two words don’t exist together. No gun is drop safe. It’s a function of angle, height and surface. If you build it completely drop safe, you legitimize mishandling. Inherently guns are not meant to be dropped, and are unsafe when dropped.”

Holy shit, eat a dick SIG.

No other striker pistol on the market has this problem. Stop trying to deny your product has a serious flaw and puts people in danger.

>company offers fix after $6,000,000 lawsuit filed by officer who was sauered in his knee
>sig knew about issue for at least a year
>impressed

ok
>>
>>34819511
Yup. Add this bullshit to all the outsourcing of parts from India and SIG is looking about as competent as Springfield Armory these days. When they pulled that "lifestyle image" shit with their gay-as-fuck Legion promotion I pretty much wrote them off as a serious company. Much like S&W they are riding on the historical perception of their company as providing a premium high-quality product when in fact they now charge you a premium for an exceedingly average or in some cases below average product.
>>
>>34818691
>when your lawyers go into over drive but you still end up doing the right thing

I don't think you people realize that sig could theoretically have ignored all of this on legal grounds. The sig is legally speaking, drop safe.

What they're doing now is for PR sake. They realize if they don't fix it their reputation will go down.

Not only is it voluntary for the consumer but it's also voluntary for the Sig
>>
>>34819615
>The sig is legally speaking, drop safe.
It passes government mandated drop standards. That doesn't mean a defective product lawsuit is impossible. Especially if they knew about the issue for a year and didn't do anything there could possibly be civil liability.

Production-wise it varies on certain things as to exact year changes were made (finishes, MiM-parts, etc, etc) You can pinpoint when things were never going to be the same to the minute that police started dropping revolvers for autos. Once the economies of scale were lost and revolvers became a niche product it pretty much became impossible to keep the quality up to historical standards while maintaining a price point that your average gun-owner could justify paying.
