>>
>>34812006
They can maybe sorta do it now or soon. That and we have a leader more obsessed with his image than anyone else's lives.

The real worry is how much does North Korea believe Trump when he says these things? A simple blackout could be taken as a preemptive strike and reignite the war. North Korea paranoid and their only strategy is to ruin everything before the US can reinforce.

They'd shell Seoul to cinders before we hunted all the artillery sites down.

It's too much suspension of disbelief to accept that North Korea is interested in their complete nuclear annihilation just to get in a shot at Guam. Talk about fake news. It's maybe half a notch above "jihadi freedom fighters".

Now Underemployment is at an all time high. Skilled workers making peanuts at a retail position is the new trend.

Not to mention the inflated employment number due to millions simply giving up the dream of working for a fair wage. If you refuse ANY employment, even shit wage and no hours, you are officially off the books and not considered unemployed anymore.

Wage stagnation is the worst for skilled professionals. Management and unskilled grows, while machinists, welders, builders, and anyone who works blue collar is fucked for years.

BUT DON'T BLAME TRUMP. Trump doesn't control stock prices going up and doesn't control wages settling. If the president really had influence over such things, then Bill Clinton was a genius (he's not)

Because half the country is just as bad as he is.

When was the last time you heard anyone talk about actual policy? It's all "Leftist" this and "Globalist" that. It's like the id of this country has taken over and every crass, ill-thought out impulse has been given freedom to run wild. The only constant in policy seems to be a knee-jerk rejection of anything Obama did, regardless of merit or ideology.

If you want to tell me Steve Bannon was planning to wag the dog, I could buy it. What I won't buy is that Trump could stick to the script. He's being led around the nose by his ego because God forbid there are things he can't will into existence. There's a very real chance the war could start again because Trump feels the need to prove himself as a tough guy. He takes any defiance by North Korea as a personal affront.

That said, I'm more worried about his bluster triggering a panic amongst the ultra paranoid North Korean leadership. Any unexplained malady, like a blackout, could be taken as a preemptive strike.

There's a fucking reason why every President has taken a cautious approach to diplomacy.

Saying "the economy is doing good" is meaningless.

It's just the top 1% are making bank. The average working-class American is unaffected; doubly so if they don't live in a major metropolitan area.
>>
>>34813033
What does china even stand to gain by backing north korea at this point? If war were declared China could back the DPRK and we would have a general war between the east and west basically ruining the entire world for the next 30-50 years no matter who wins, or China could back the west (or more likely just do nothing) and have to deal with more mild economic competition on the korean peninsula in 10 years.

China isn't the problem. War is the problem. Western-aligned nations would inevitably crush the DPRK but it wouldn't be another Iraqi curbstomp where we only take a few hundred casualties and start occupation after a month, there would easily be tens of thousands dead on each side even if we did manage to finish it quickly.

The annoying part is that it seems the DPRK is slowly closing the gap, so unless we find a more permanent solution we'll either have to blink or fight an even harder war decades down the line.

Actually, it does. It might be 70s and 80s tech but it will rape any slow flying 50s bomber like the B52.

On top of the the mountainous terrain of NK means a massive pop-up threat as you fly over valley's, making it incredibly challenging for the US to use the Iraq War tactic of destroying SAM radars with HARM missiles outside of their effective range. It will take weeks to adequately suppress North Korean aircraft and SAM sites and achieve air superiority.

The sooner we wipe the nork scourge off the map, the better.
And fuck China too.

You all know this is the international equivalent of a toddler holding his breath until he gets a cookie, right?

Kim Jong Il did it all the goddamn time.

Bit late but at what point do we take a harder line to NK? At what point is it enough that they keep persisting on their current path. At some point out bluffs and sanctions arn't enough, considering they still persist with their craziness. You have two choices, make good on your bluff/back up your threat or back down.

It is, it's been going on for decades, and the response for decades was to pat them nicely on the head and give them some foreign aid. The problem is, the tangerine in the whitehouse takes all the bullshit saber rattling as an actual threat, and now we grow closer to war. And while there's obviously no real question about who would win a war between the US and the DPRK, it's very important to consider what would become of SK if things kicked off. How much damage would they sustain in the fighting? What the fuck would they while all those new people? And of course what would China think? The problem as I see it is I doubt Trump thinks far enough ahead to consider any of these things.

It has less to do with Trumps ego and more to do with the fact that the Norks now have nukes and missiles that can deliver them.

When Il would saber rattle everyone knew he actually couldn't do shit. With lil kim, he might just get pissed and order a launch on Japan or someone just for the fuck of it. Then we have a giant shit show because China and Russia are gonna detect the US counter launch and have a couple minute long debate whether to launch against the US on the off chance we launch against them aswell.

Nothing is going to happen. The norks are well aware of the disparity in military power between them and the US, it's just Kim trying to look like he's in charge and keeping up a bogeyman for the nation to hate more than Kin himself.

There's no benefit to a war against North Korea as there's nothing to gain; SK doesn't want it, China doesn't want it, the US doesn't want. NK's only valuable as long as it exists and is stable, the latter is looking doubtful these days.
I wouldn't be surprised if any nork shenanigans is met with a swift regime change for a more pliable, less unstable dictator, courtesy of the Chinese.

Even if they can hit the mainland US, are they not guaranteed to be shot down?
