Have a bit of bonus money coming for the quarter.
Willing to spend about $1500 on guns, the rest is going to a bathroom remodel.

Should i:
1. Buy 2 new silencers ( 556k saker and omega 9k)
2. A maxim 9 pistol
3. 1 new silencer (omgea 9k or 556k)
and buy another pistol
4. Zenith mp5 clone
5. Build an
6. Just buy ammo. ( my ammo stash is low)
7. Save it and buy a B&T

I have a specwar762 and octane 45, i have no .308 semis, i dont have a mp5, i see handguns i want ( rex and walther ppq 5)

I cant decide.

Please help.

How does carrying a glock with one in the pipe not kill hundreds of people every year?

I have a g19 and a king tuk iwb holster and i've never had an ND but it just seems like it could happen so easily. How do you say fuck it and just not worry about the trigger somehow getting pulled?
>>
>>34801494
Step 1. Get a good holster that covers trigger effectively

Step 2. Keep your fucking finger off the fucking trigger unless you want bang bang

Step 3. Watch your gun upon reholster so you can observe the trigger/trigger guard for foreign objects

I just installed the E2 grip kit on my P220 and the grips don't fit flush. At first I thought it was because I have the old style trigger bar spring but I removed the trigger bar spring and the entire decocker and the problem persists. Any ideas?

>2. A maxim 9 pistol
I haven't heard one in person, but seems to me the dB numbers are quite shit, considering it took them years and it doesn't come close to their octane.

What do I know? But, I would have thought a well designed integral should be at least close to a small screw-on.
>>
>>34802363
The screw on is going to have more volume, and as a resut a lower db.

The maxim has a fairly short/thin suppressor and as a result not a lot of volume. But it still looks to be about 134db.

What is the most common "variant" of the HK P2000? I've read about what each of the trigger variants entails, but if I go to a gun store, which are they most likely to have?
>>
>>34802491
139.9 with 147gr subs per their own marketing.

Sure, all else being equal, a higher volume silencer will work better, but it is not just about internal volume.

It's still sorta neat, but the maxim moved way down the list of wants once I saw the numbers.

>>
>>34802755
You usually can't go wrong with silencerco (everything he listed is silencerco). There are a lot of other good choices too, and a few bad ones.

It really depends upon what specifically you're looking for.

I'm building a cheap long range rifle.
I hope to go out to 1000 yards at some point but mostly will shoot at 400 yards. I want a cheap scope and I'm not sure what to pick.
My trick to going cheap on glass is by not using the turrets to dial dope and instead using a mil dot Xmas tree style reticle and doing holds for elevation and wind.
If primary arms still sold their 4-14 r grid I would pick that. Now that I can't use that anymore what should I pick? Turret tracking/zero stop etc also don't matter since I will use holds for all DOPE. I feel like I need at least 14x to 16x as a minimum max magnification since my eyes aren't so great. I need at least 9x st 100 yards to really see the bull of most rifle targets.
>>
>>34802755
For what caliber?

Goto for silencers right now are
Dead air,
Silencerco
Gemtec
Sig
Aac

Silencer co still makes good stuff, but there has been a bit of a shake up in management. Which is common in the industry. And a lot of their guys went to dead air.

For a 762 or 556 can that is the best quick detach, dead air.
For a damn good one that is almost as good, maybe a db or two higher, silencerco is still golden.

For lower priced YHM and Gemtec

Sig and aac round out the top.

Then you have nitch players like Thunder Beast for precision rifles.

And a bunch of smaller companys like elite iron, ect that are not as nicely made, but fit a price point.

I have no idea what handgun to get. I just turned 21 and have shot a few buddy's guns and they all feel good. CZPO9, CZPO1, G19, 1911, Sig 226. All felt pretty nice but none stood out to me except the DA pull on the Sig and P09 which felt like a fucking Mosin trigger. I already have a Shield for a carry gun but I want something a little bigger for a sidearm to my rifle. How do you guys decide what you want? I've got like 450 to 500 to spend if that helps
>>
>>34802868
Duty guns like the po9 and 226 have a heavy da pull because cops are clumsy.
>>
>>34802890

Sadly. I'm not autistic enough to need a 10 pound pull to keep me from shooting myself. I've carried for 4 months now at like 4:30 on my body and the trigger isn't the best but I enjoy getting gud with one trigger and not hitting the post holding a target up.

>How does carrying a glock with one in the pipe not kill hundreds of people every year?

By not being a retard? (pic)

They even make a striker control device for them. Why do people have this misconception that OH MY GOD GLOCKS ARE SO FUCKING DANGEROUS but don't bat an eyelid at VP9's, M&P's, etc?

The reason you think Glocks are dangerous is that they're very popular in law enforcement compared to other firearms so there will of course be more accidents with them, compared to less common and newer striker fired pistols. Seriously, stop being dumb. If you really want, get an unloaded Glock, make sure it's 100% unloaded and carry it around your house to see if it goes off. Spoiler alert: it won't so long as you have a quality holster

No hands-on experience with either, but a big difference is the rail. The P2000 is similar to a glock, while the USP is proprietary. That and some ergonomic stuff. And no safety on the P2000.

Why is the slide trigger so rare in comparison to the hinged trigger? AFAIK only 1911 and HK VP70 has a slide trigger. I just want an aesthetic trigger for my striker fired wonder 9.
>>
>>34802868
>All felt pretty nice but none stood out to me except the DA pull on the Sig and P09 which felt like a fucking Mosin trigger.

This is because you haven't learned how to utilize a DA pull so it is percieved as something unmanageable to you. With practice, it is as easy as shooting anything else.

If you legitimately have trouble with a 10lb DA pull, not even being an asshole but you need to git gud at shooting.

Here is a Wolf .308, notice what looks like a groove or maybe even a crack near the head. This is the worst looking one of the case but they all have something noticeable there. Is this going to kaboom my rifles? I've shot loads of Wolf 9mm and .223 without issue but this is my first time with .308, I was always afraid since case failures seeming more common in the .308.

That was a passenger ship or troop transport that got sunk by a U-Boat. It's hard to follow because of the non-linear narrative, but Cillian Murphy's character was last seen in the "main" timeline in a rowboat going off to find a vessel to take them across the channel. So he either found a transport or a merchant ship that later on got sunk before he got picked up by the small boat on Day 2.

Really it's a Hungarian Hi-Power, but yeah they're good. Most of the them have a lot of cosmetic wear, but almost no internal wear unless from misuse. Case in point, my pistol looks like it was barely ever fired, but my trigger pin was broken from a dipshit trying to push it out the wrong direction. Get the direct copy of the Hi-power so you have interchangeability. Great guns for a reasonable price of anywhere from 250-350 dollars. My recommendations though, replace the trigger pin with a roll pin or new trigger pin and maybe remove the magazine disconnect if the trigger still isn't great for you. Generally though, Hi-Powers are known for not fantastic triggers.

It's pretty much buying a gun just because it looks nice without any thought about being able to use it safely. A .22 is a much safer approach because it can be used as a beginner caliber as well as for small game and plinking for any skill level

I say it's not a bad idea. Collage fag so I assume you won't shoot as often. It's what I did in collage just buying 5.56 occasionally and throwing it in a little box to save up. I was mainly buying and shooting 9mm because I was pretty bad with handguns.

>>34804663

he's not asking about an S&W 500 you dumb cunt. they're not gonna hit him in the head because he doesn't know how to shoot a 500 nor is he gonna drop 6k on a 338 lapua.

He's gonna get an AR and Glock. If he was wanting to get into long range shooting, I doubt anyone would disagree with him buying a 308 or the like to start off and get used to it or the 500 analogy, him buying a 357 to get used to revolvers and go to a 500

Are suppressed guns without subsonics really that UNhearing safe? Or are they euro death metal concert levels?
Another question
Do sub sonic rounds preform poorly?
>>
>>34805363
They're hearing safe, and to answer your second question it obviously depends on the cartridge and bullet. Because you're limited by speed the only way to increase power is by using a bigger bullet, within reason. The best performing subsonic rounds, like .300 blackout, can't compare to normal rifle rounds, especially at long range, but are generally better than what you'd get with a handgun.
>>
>>34801116
I have a stevens 620A pump shotgun chambered and proofed for 12 ga 2.75

It will possibly reliably feed 3" shells but are they safe to fire from it and could I fire a brenneke black magic bear slug from it safely.
>>
>>34805363
for hearing safe, depends on the gun/suppressor. I've seen some 9mm pistol cans that were only hearing safe with subs, and then some that were safe no matter the ammo.
For the second question- I'm sure good projectile design can mitigate any issue caused by lower velocity: consider that .45acp, .40s&w, and many 9x19mm loads are all subsonic. You'll never get supersonic rifle performance out of anything subsonic though.

An AR is fun and all, but before you drop $500-$700 on a basic AR, why not spend $200-$300 on a 10/22 instead of going all out on the first guns you buy? I can agree with the glock though....it has a good enough fan base behind it that there's little chance of it being a poor decision. As well as both a 10/22 and G19 have many aftermarket options.
>>
>>34805644
no just no. its chambering 3inch shells because 3inch is the size of the shell after firing. the crimp makes the initial overall size much less than 3. you will blow up your gun you stupid fuck.

My question is:

I want a DeLisle Carbine.
I was considering trying to find a sporter Enfield, rebarrel, find/make a mag adaptor, and then...then I got stuck.

Should I go the whole 9 yards and make that fuckhuge shroud, ported barrel, "German muzzle device", crazy-ass baffle system, and then figure a way to make (it find) sights?

Or, should I just take the new barrel and thread THAT for a .45 can?

I've got no issue filing a form 1 and waiting on it, because this is a long term project, anyway.

Bad deal.

Savge 93 is between 150-$300 depending on model.

I had one in 22wmr. It is a fun round, but is out classed by the .17 cal options.

The cost of ammo is more than 22lr. And it isnt any better as a range gun, but is a better hunting round if you are trying to pop foxes and other fur bearing animals.

Yes. True (hot) Bluing is just a type of iron oxide (rust) but is chemically induced. It's only a few microns deep, can be removed, and can unfortunately also turn to regular rust. (Pic sadly related, it was originally solid blue/black steel)

The only real way to get it back to Bluing is to literally grind off the damage all the way down to the bare metal and re-blue.

Luckily, that base of blued metal is tough as nails, but anything that can fuck up a nail will fuck up the finish. It gets more finicky when the finish is a mirror sheen, too.

If you shoot it, clean it. Don't use steel wool for nearly any reason. Be careful of acids and oxidizers (especially blood because that shit WILL fuck up nearly any iron/steel based finish).

>>34809580
End of muzzle, but since you're usually talking dozens of yards (at minimum), it effectively doesn't matter. Once you're done with zero, just remember the zero distance and adjust from there.

>>34809646
Depends on how I read your question.

>how rapidly can a gun fire multiple times with the same barrel/firing port?
Depends on the mechanism of fire/action. Modern day bolt actions fire at the speed of the user's hands being able to manipulate the action and pull the trigger again. Semiautomatic guns are ready to fire in tenths, if not hundredths, of a second. Fully automatic guns just keep going at a manufacturer established pace until ammo runs out, the user stops firing, or a malfunction occurs. Revolvers wait until you pull the trigger.

>how fast is the velocity of the projectile?
Depends on powder load, mass of projectile, and amount of volume the powder load has to expand while expending all/most of its force on the projectile.

All other things being equal:
Mass of projectile and top speed trade off
Longer barrel with bolt action > shorter barrel with bolt action
Longer distance to gas port for semis > shorter

Adjustments CAN be made, and lots of shit can occur.

M193 out of a 10.5" barrel is BARELY able to reach the minimum fragmentation velocity of 2700 fps, like +/- 50fps within 100yds. In other words, unreliable.

Out of a 20" barrel M193 is cooking right along at 3250 fps at 150yds

A 16" barrel is fine shooting all common 223/5.56, just make sure you get a mid length gas system. Colt is the only carbine gas 16" rifle I'd put money into, because you could get that money back out later if you wanted.

CCW question. I carry a PPS in an appendix holster. On the weekend I have no problems carrying one in the chamber, the familiar sense of the gun harassing my right testicle on outings as a gentle reminder.

On the weekdays, I work in a shared building with a 30.06/30.07 sign out front. So I store the gun in my glove compartment.

My question is, between car accidents and passengers, what is the best practice for leaving a gun in the glove compartment when you are not in the car? The gun will be in the kydex holster, but can it be stored chamber empty? If not, lunch break means chambering and then un-chambering in the adjacent parking garage. Is that just life?

Hey /k/ nogunz here. Been considering a Ruger Mini Thirty as a general ranch rifle and to shoot on the weekends. This a good choice? And is it worth getting the stainless barrel if Im in rural high desert where it snows in the winter? Im familiar with the issue they have shooting russian steel cased but ive read you can fix that by grinding the firing pin and plan to do that.

If youve got alternatives Im open. Price isnt a huge issue, looking for a more traditional stock/pattern. Sidepoints if also viable for protecting warehouse from riots.

Some of the rounds have been chambered 3-4 times, the rest none. Yet they all still read the same. How many times does a round have to be chambered to notice any set back?

TLDR - Is bullet set back a meme? My carry ammo shows no signs of OAL change despite multiple chamberings.

>Grinding the firing pin to make it shoot Russian steel case

This sounds like a way to puncture a primer and vent gas all over your shit. Or just ruin a firing pin.

Some people will beef up the firing pin spring, but then the firing pin can snap. Beefier firing pins can be had, but they require fitting and, of course, spending even more money.

If you really, really want a traditional looking 7.62x39, just get an SKS. They're not the fabulously cheap rifle of the working man they used to be, but they can still be found for half of what that stainless mini-30 is going to cost you, plus they take stripper clip and there's an endless amount of aftermarket bullshit that can be strapped to them.

If you like tho look of the mini, get the mini-14. The mini-14 doesn't have any major issues beyond just not really being worth the price, and the stainless ones look pretty sick with a matching accu-strut and scope.

.308 is a pricier option, both for guns and for ammo. It's also a tougher round to shoot, especially for a beginner, though it will be more than enough for a deer.

5.56, 7.62x39, and .300 blackout all /can/ be used to kill a deer, but depending on the range and situation, it may not be a very clean kill.

Keep in mind, 7.62x39 is not that much more powerful than 5.56, and both skirt the "1000 foot pounds" rule of thumb when it comes to what you want in order to kill a deer.

However, both are relatively cheap and widely available, and they're very easy cartridges to learn how to shoot on thanks to the low recoil and low cost of practice.

If you really just want to go out and kill deer, .308 might be the way to go, but for pest control and learning how to shoot, 5.56 and 7.62x39 are going to be better options in the long run.

Find a range that does rentals. Take a day off work and go mid day during the week. Spend about 75 to 100 dollarydoos. Some ranges have a deal where you can pay one flat rental fee to shoot each gun they have.

I have a $1000 budget to buy 2 sets of body armor. I've watched some videos by The Wound Channel and he recommends AR500 3+ plates over all others in terms of bang for buck. From what I understand, 556 can penetrate LVL3 AR500 plates if shot from a 20 inch barrel, however from watching a demolition ranch video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duxeXrz6Pvg) I see LVL3 stands up to 556 from a 16 inch barrel.

Basically, i'm considering keeping a plate carrier with AR500 3+ plates + trauma pads with the extra anti spalling coating at home, and having the AR500 ESCORT armor plate carrier with LVL3 plates in my car.

Are there any other metal plates that are better than AR500 plates for the money? Im set on metal plates vs soft armor or ceramic due to their 20 year warranty and durability.
>>
>>34813635
I vote .380 for +2 rounds, but also guns in .380 tend to be more easily concealable.
>>
>>34817273
That's what I was leaning towards as well (more easily concealable). I love revolvers but the cylinder is where they fall short for me for concealment. My only issue with .380 is that it seems like you can't use if you want FBI penetration standards whereas .38 Special will penetrate to their standards with wadcutters.
>>
I bought a BB gun so I could shoot it wherever but literally the next day there was a terrorist attack so now I'm scared of getting arrested/killed for shooting cans in the alley behind my house.

Where, in a city, is it generally safe and acceptable to fire a bb gun other than indoors? Would slathering it in loud paint work?

Also, being a BB gun, the mallninja options for it are limited but what are some Fun items I should get to strap onto it? I was at an army/navy surplus store recently and they had 11mm to picatinny adapters, but nothing actually interesting other than conventional scopes. does anything fun actually exist or is it all ACOGs and lasers I'll never use when I have a 4x scope and high vis plastic irons as standard anyway
>>
For many decades police in Western countries carried calibers like .32 ACP (7.62 Browning), .38 Special, .380 ACP, .32 Colt, and various other calibers. .357 Magnum was for the big boys. In the last few decades American cops decided 9mm was to be the new "standard" and it has done fine for many years.

Now all of a sudden police handguns and CCW's NEED to be .45 ACP or .40 S&W (or even 10 fucking millimeter) and 9mm is the bare minimum of offensive and defensive shooting by serious users. People haven't evolved to be bullet resistant!

What happened? Why have the populace and police adopted higher calibers with such gusto?
>>
>>34818948
They finally figured out that 32ACP couldn't kill anyone worth a shit
>>
>>34817247
if you're a normal civilian you won't need plates. if you need plates you're probably in a situation that is so fucked the plates won't be of much use to you anyway.

jamal and his brothers don't use ar's in 5.56 or g3's in 7.62 to rob liquor stores or hold up people at atms. they use jiminez pistols hi points and shivs. be sensible and get a lvl IIIa or lvl II soft vest with stab resistance and be discreet with it.

i'm not saying you can't have it i'm just saying you really don't need it.
>inb4 NEED posters
>>
>>34818912
I misprinted, .32 ACP is 7.62 Browning. My mistake.

>>34818960
We're not supposed to kill people whether we are police or conceal carry. We're supposed to stop threats with minimal use of force. If your intent is to kill you should get your head checked out.

Those small calibers were good enough for many assassinations including US President and the Archduke Ferdinand. Don't say they "couldn't kill".
>>
>>34819000
Smaller bullets had more of a deterrent effect before modern medical treatment, since you were highly likely to bleed out or get infected. No transplants or ICUs back then.

Today, 80% of people shot with a handgun survive. If you're in ambulance range and don't take it in the CNS you'll probably live.

Most career criminals know this. Since guns aren't so intimidating as they used to be, effective stops rely on actually incapacitating people, and that means killing them 99% of the time.

All lethal force is...wait for it...legally, lethal force. A .22 is not different from a .44 in the eyes of the law. It's just shittier at doing its job.
>>
>>34819067
Ah I see. It's really because of advances in the medical community that people have gravitated towards more powerful and larger handgun cartridges. That makes complete sense.

>All lethal force is...wait for it...legally, lethal force
I know that. But the intent is never to kill. It's to incapacitate. That's why cops don't execute criminals after dumping enough rounds in them to make them go down (assuming the criminal doesn't still have a weapon). Yes the force is lethal but it doesn't have to be lethally used. You see?

I'm looking for a really cheap but really reliable handgun to keep permanently in my car. I'm thinking cheapest fullsize hipoint I can find, does this sound right?

When trap shooting, I understand that you're supposed to point not aim, but then people tell me to put the bead on the leading edge of the bird. What do they mean by this? Also, I seem to have the best results when I focus exclusively on the bird and pull the trigger when the muzzle obscures the bird, but this seems contrary to aiming below the bird.

I'm looking at buying a G20 or G40 in the next month or so as a fun/hog hunting gun. Going to be looking at compensating the gun, and getting an ALG 6-Second Mount or similar for the gun. Tech sights aren't a scope, it's a rear aperture sight designed to mimick an ar15 rear sight. It mounts to the holes for the picatiny rail.

Would like some opinions and advice anons.

I just built up a sort of modern m40(m70 variety) clone using a new winchester 70 in 30 06, with a featherweight barrel, and swfa 10x HD scope.

I went with a new m70 because IMO they are smoother and the stock trigger is really nice compared to rem 700, I also like the idea of the controlled round feed type actions.

I went with 30- 06 because It was the caliber used at the time, its my idea of a gun panic proof caliber, its pretty much equal to 308 ballistics wise when using factory ammo, and I can get factory match ammo for it if I want to get real accurate.

I went with a featherweight barrel over a sporter because after reading Carlos Hathcock's writings and such, he mentions switching out his heavy contour barrels for the lighter sporter barrels due to being an overall lighter carry rifle, and not needing a heavier barrel for hunting because you shouldnt need to take more than 5 follow up shots in the same area. Which makes sense to me at least, so I went even further and just got a featherweight instead of a sporter.

I went with the fixed 10x because even on my variables im usually between 9-12x. Yes, I am aware its outdated, but I like it, and the HD model I have is very good for the price I paid. I put it on a two piece talley ring/mount, since it saves weight by not having a picatinny rail and seperate rings.

Im still figuring out what kind of sling I want, but I might go with either some kind of web sling, or a montana leather sling. Im also considering switching out the sling swivel studs for wichita sling style.
