Recently purchased an SLR-107R. Absolutely love the rifle. No malfunctions so far, accurate, very fun to shoot.
BUT
As a left-handed shooter, there is one thing that's really bothering me, and that's getting slapped in the face by a pressure wave every time the rifle cycles. I haven't been hit by any brass or anything, but the gas system just feels... overpressured? I'm not sure. This is my first AK-style rifle, so I don't know if this is common/normal, but does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any tweaking I can do to not get hit with this pressure wave and catch a mouthful of spent powder with each shot?
Very very normal as a left hand shooter myself I definitely feel beat up after running a brick thru my century

Ak is [likely] intentionally overpressured. I feel the concussion every time someone shoots my wasr near me.

AKs are, by their nature, slightly overgassed. Helps reliability at the cost of some increased felt recoil. Unless you're getting malfunctions I'd say its normal. Maybe try changing out the muzzle device?
AK platform guns are typically overgassed, that's part of what makes them so reliable. Unless it has an adjustable gas system, you're fucked.

Damn. I really like this rifle, but being left-handed seems to have cursed me here lol
Any lefties have any suggestions? Muzzle breaks were mentioned, but I don't know how that'd effect the gas coming out of the recoil system.
The recoil itself isn't the issue, it's that damn pressure wave. It's the craziest overpressure I've ever felt coming off a gun, and it's even more dramatic if someone else is shooting it and I'm nearby.

Throw on a Hungarian gas tube or Chinese gas tube. They generally have extra holes to vent more of the excess gas.

How accessible/practical would those parts be on the American market?

Since the gas puck rides inside the star of the gas tube, the lions share of gas impinging on the piston is done in the block so changing gas tubes has very little benefit since gas just flows around the piston anyway.
Retrofitting a PSL style gas adjuster, drilling a set screw system or going with a DEZ or the upcoming Definitive Arms block are the only real fixes.
