Some rifles and the shotguns are exception though as they eject actual casings while firing. It would explain why Revolvers are substantially more powerful than full length rifles per shot in this game, the Revolvers are space-magic railguns while some of the others are conventional.

Something that annoyed me about that game was that the MX rifle was strictly inferior to its variants.

The SW might be a bit heavier but the use of 100rnd magazines meant you saved weight overall for the same round count, didn't have to reload as often and had a slightly improved long range ability. The mass increase is negligible in CQB, and the stamina savings overrode its effects in precision fire.
