Hey /k/, I have a Marlin 795 that I would like a scope for. I already have Tech Sights, and while they're great iron sights, I'm interested in using my rifle to hunt small game. What's a good budget scope for a rimfire? I don't wanna go out and spend $400 on glass for a .22 plinker.
Also, what is the bet mounting solution for a Marlin 795, I'm thinking on drilling and tapping a pair of holes for a picitanny mount, is this a good idea?

Nikon and Leupold both offer pretty decent rimfire scopes for around the $100 to maybe $200 range
And you can buy rimfire to picatinny clamps, just buy good ones.

Primary arms imports a 6x .22 scope with their ACSS reticle.

Hold overs and range finder should be useful for small game.

I used an airsoft scope on my Model 60 for quite a while before I bought an actually rimfire scope.

these are good suggestions. i would pick one of these, with the PA being on the top of the list bc of the reitcule.

ACSS reticle is a combat reticle for use against man-sized targets. Fucking less than useless for small game.

It was modified for small game for the 22 scope.
They also have a version (Orion) that's modified for hunting medium to large game with centerfire rifles.

I know how they are marketing their shit. I am still of the opinion that the reticle is a bucket of fail for small game.

Thanks for the valuable insight on a product you've never used.

If you need to range a fucking squirrel @ 50yds with your meme-reticle to get a hit with your .22 there are no insights can't help you anon.

Obviously you could use iron sights, but we want to make the shot easier and more humane, hence taking every advantage we can get.
I've hunted small game with handguns, and getting close enough to make a humane shot is harder than making the shot. With this reticle, you can make the shot from farther, quicker, while being confident of first shot success.
OP wanted a 22 scope for plinking, and plinking cans with one of these is a hoot.

I've hunted small game with a slingshot. Fuck 'em if it takes two slugs. Top of the food chain biatch.

>go to LGS
>look at scopes
>buy one
why is this so hard for yankees?

I had a bad experience pulling a shot on a rabbit. It was on its side kicking with shit oozing out of the bullet hole.

Step on it's head and pull Then cut the legs off. They'll still be good. Not much meat on the actual torso of a rabbit anyway.

Still more humane than what a hawk would have done to the little fucker.
