She's a 1945 No.1 Mk.3* in ridiculously good shape aside from the bubba'ing. Bore is bright and like a mirror. It appears that whomstever did the sporter job did it somewhat professionally so I imagine it was done shortly after the war, and was likely only shot a few times every decade for the odd hunting trip. She came with a fair bit of cosmoline so probably mothballed by a collector until I got my hands on it.

IMO it works just fine.

Any gun should NOT be stored in a vehicle, you should have a pack that you prepare for the vehicle and intended purpose and move with your person to the vehicle.

This is not a difficult task as long as you actually put thought into the pack and firearm.

Another anon here, you definitely should not keep it in over-night ever but in the event someone knows you have it in the vehicle people will break in just to get it (mostly felons who cant buy one and dont know how to use the internet). Keep in mind, people don't just try to steal your car, more often people break into it just to steal what's inside and leave. I live in an all white gated community and had a couple of pre-teens who watched YouTube videos of how to get in without breaking anything I guess and were going through people's cars and dumping the center console and glove box onto the seats. They didn't steal anything, it must have just been for the luls but if I had left my gun in there they might have or even played with it and offed themselves.

To answer what a good handgun would be, something small enough to where you can carry it if you find you have to, keep it in a clip on holster to make this faster and protect the trigger from anything that might lever it, and cheap. Look at a used gun online, really, I hate the gun, but a used sd9ve would be perfect if you're poor and already have another nicer pistol to enjoy. If you can afford it, any mid price striker fired gun would be great. People will sell used glock 19s for 350-450 depending on generation and condition.
