Someone should take the 1911 and update it with the superior cam lockup of the Hi Power. Blend that with S&Ws external extractor and you've got a 1911 for the modern age.

1911s are the nicest guns to shoot. They just melt into your hands perfectly. I don't feel the same way about double stacks.

No, because it has a lot of parts, a big kick in .45, and having a manual safety isn't very beginner friendly. They require quite a bit of maintenance compared to a polymer pistol.
Plus they're expensive as fuck in comparison.
