Anybody own one of these? How do you like it? That mag release seems like it's awkward to use

I was considering either this or the Ruger SR9
>>
>>34784478
I own one. It's a good shooter, the ergo rocks, and you get used to the mag release. My only issue is personally I think it's a bit big for everyday carry.

Does the mag release feel physically strange to use? It looks like you'd have to use your fingers in a weird way to engage it

this would be my first handgun btw

i do
i love it
mag release is just fine

buy this now and do the HK magazine rebate and get 4 free mags

worst case if you have to sell said handgun you'll get most your money back. With the SR9, well its an SR9

Feels better in my hand than any of my other handguns (glock, xds, cz, sig, beretta, slav shit).

Trigger is a pleasure. Soft recoil impulse, likely due to VP9s now all shipping stock with VP40 recoil spring assemblies.

With the mag rebate, now is the time to buy.

As the other anon stated, it isn't a small gun. Which makes it a shame the mag only holds 15 rounds.

Mag release can be hard to reach if you have small hands but changing the grip straps should help. It has a lot of combinations to try.
>>
>>34784514
Not really. I kind of like the paddle style of release. I own a couple Walthers with the paddle mag release as well. Basically you'll engage it with your trigger finger or I've seen guys use their middle finger too.

If it's your first gun then you'll just pick it up as natural since it's the only thing couple be shooting. The biggest thing is practice. Take it to the range and run it again and again. Eventually you won't even think about it.
>>
>>34784478
I have the LE version and love it. Great gun. Ergos are fantastic, and anyone who doesn't like the paddle mag release is a faggot. I'm able to drop the mag with my middle finger without ever having to shift the grip on the gun. It's great. Love mine.
>>
>>34784528
yeah the rebate seems like a really good deal considering each mag is at least 30 bucks and the only reason I was considering the SR9 is because it's sub 400 on grabagun but I think with the HK rebate they're pretty close

is there a gun search engine that I can use so I can find the cheapest price on a VP9? something like ammoseek for firearms

thanks btw

Isn't the only difference with the LE that it comes with an extra mag and night sights? No other engineering differences?

No differences. The tactical model with the threaded barrel and night sights has no mechanical differences, either.

Don't know about the extra mag but you are correct about the night sights, they're Trijicon's and they're really nice. I actually purchased mine from a guy at work. I paid $650 for mine and got 5 mags with it and a kydex holster. He only put like 200 rounds through it, and sold it because he wanted to get a Five Seven. I put another 300 or so rounds through it so far and haven't had a malfunction yet. I eventually want to get the threaded barrel for it so I can use a suppressor.
>>
>>34784596
well i bought my LE model from the factory and it came with Tru Glo night sights and three mags

Lame. I saw that you can get the LE version with Tru Glo, but the Trijicons are so worth the extra $$$.
>>
>>34784668
Those ones aren't. Those are the Tru Glo ones. I don't have experience with them but I know they're not as good as the tritium ones. The tritium ones are Trijicons.
>>
>>34784668
the standard sights are not. they're like a glow in the dark paint and the glowing fades very fast. But if you get a model with night sights, it will be a true tritium set.

>>34784693
they both glow and they both have good warranties. I would have rather had the Trijicons but im not upset at all with tru glo
>>
>>34784668
>>34784693
They come with mepro light MH3 night sights.

Aren't those tritium?
>>
I have the VP9 LE. I'd recommend my version with night sights + 3 magazines. Then stack the rebate of 4 magazines on top and you get the gun, night sights, and 7 magazines for 580 on buds guns. Fits in the hand great (even less recoil for me than other 9mm guns because of what a hold I have on it), easy to acquire sights, great trigger, etc. I can't recommend it enough.

I sorta went out on a limb buying it. Wasn't sure what I was getting into. One of the best purchases I've made.

Right, the flash over exposed the white paint and bleached out the filament. They're easy to see during the day because of the white paint, but they're not the brightest night sights I've owned.

Still happy enough with them I won't be changing them out. Nice compromise between day and night.

As someone who is also about to buy a vp9, how do I do this?

Yeah I kinda wish the Trijicons had the white paint over them because they can be kind of tough use during the day sometimes.
>>
>>34785050
Its all online. Just google HK mag rebate. 4 mags for a new VP9 or P30. Just upload a screen shot of your receipt and use the drop menus to input relevant information.
>>
>>34785062
They look like the sit a little higher, too. Could be a pro or con depending on use. Seems odd they opted for the low profile sights on the tactical model. Seems the MH3s might be better suited for a carry gun, certainly not suitable for a supressor host.
>>
>>34785073
Well hot damn. Next payday needs to get here faster.
>>
>>34785127
Build that credit. I get cash back.
>>
>>34785101
They're higher to accommodate a suppressor. With a can, you need slightly higher sights in order to see over it properly. I need to get the threaded barrel for mine and a suppressor. My buddy has one and it is fucking amazing, can shoot fucking 9mm without earpro all day.
>>
>>34785196
Holy shit you're right. I could just pay it off and build that credit. It's not like I don't have the cash. I just want a bit of a cushion.
>>
>>34785211
Sooner its in your hands sooner you can move on that rebate and get the extra mags, too.

This thread is perfectly timed. I'm shopping for this very pistol today. I'm trying to nail down the P/N if I want a VP9 in FDE with 2 15 round magazines. Buds has like 4 different listings, ones got 3 mags, ones got 10 round mags and the other two I'm not sure about. Looks like 541 from Buds, MrGundealer has them for 462, but I've never heard of them. Classic Arms is 529 and Prepper Gun Shop is 479.

Anybody else see a good deal out there? I'm already going to have a $20 transfer fee, I'd like to avoid TX sales tax and shipping fees.
>>
>>34785360
The ones with only 2 mags are cheaper than the ones that come with 3 by more than the cost of the third mag.

The 10 round ones are for the cucked states, ignore those

I don't own one but my dad does and he let me shoot the shit out of his. It's a good gun, and the trigger isn't amazing but it's not bad by any stretch of the word either. It has a super low bore axis so it feels like shooting a slightly more ergonomic Glock, to me. The only gripe I have with it is that the slide will release automatically if you insert the mag hard enough, but I think all HK guns do that. The 4-mag rebate makes these things a pretty good deal right now. They say it might be a few months before you get your mags, but my dad let HK know the day he bought one and got a shipping notification for the magazines within two days.
>>
>>34792584
Admittedly, the lighting is shit for that picture. I rather liked the shade of OD.
>>
>>34784478
I bought the LE version and I love it. Its my favorite striker fired pistol hands down. Being ambi helps quite a bit since I'm a lefty.

One thing to keep in mind is your grip. When I shot it last week the slide kept going into battery. I figured out my thumb was resting on the slide release. I "Sig grip" it (having your shooting hand thumb rest on the meaty portion of your support hand thumb rather than the slide) and that fixed the problem.
>>
>>34787775
You actually solved my problem with figuring out how to carry my VP9. I have a DeSantis sticky holster and I'm gonna try appendix carry tomorrow.

Yup works good for driving and sitting, too. The extra barrel length for the tactical is no issue.

I do not own one, but I thoroughly shot one when while renting handguns. I'm torn between wanting a VP9, PPQ, and a P320(maybe not the p320 anymore). The trigger was great and I was able to get the gun back on target fast. The mag release wasn't awkward at all for me, just different than what I am used to.
>>
>>34793279
well if you can't decide, just take a look into aftermarket parts. Things like triggers, barrels, sights, holsters, custom work and shit like that. find the one that offers the most of all that and boom, thats the one you get.
