Just went through the WW1 exhibit, it's amazing, lots of audio and video stuff and a really good atmosphere. I found it very emotive, honestly. Definitely worth coming, and if I had kids I would make sure they saw it.

Last time i was here i went as part of a company trip.
> Walk in door
> Walk around
> get to third floor
> Northern ireland, Afghanistan and iraq war area
> Brainfart.jpg
> I am fucking beffuddled
> Looking in cases is like looking at a time travelling mirror
> End up giving a damn near personal tour on each bit of kit to the younger lads
> Start attracting tourists who start asking me questions
> Get to the snatch land rover comically drove over edge
> Start spinning a dit
> Iraq one deployment
> Lt pulls up in a snatch (he actually liked to drive himself)
> Inspects our defences
> Good job Cpl, Carry on, quack on twoops.
> get into snatch with him, riding shotgun
> Puts it into reverse
> Puts us into a trench We just dug with help of a CET
> "Did you put that there Cpl?"
> "Yes sir, Sorry sir"
> "Its your fault you know?"
> Said .Lt is now battalion 2IC
It was like i was actually there this time. then i remember all the QRF callouts i got to ambushes and IEDs and why they called the snatch got all its nicknames, "coffin for 8" "Coffin on wheels" and "incinerator"

I unironically said long live saddam on seeing the Saddam art.

Later went to the gift shop
> Model kit section, hadn't made one for years
> These three kits sticks out
> Airfix 1:48 scale, Warrior, Land rover with infantry patrol and A jackal 2 wmik
> that really broke my mind

The third floor exhibitions change frequently, they're currently doing a photography piece on rendition and torture under dubya. I think it's really good, the overall effect is eerie.
Also a Syria gallery that is surprisingly balanced and detailed.
The Afghanistan section is good too, lots of interesting perspectives and commentary from people who were there. Seemed like the initial plan was really bungled and by the time the coalition got its shit together, they were pulling out. The consensus of the interviewees seemed to be we would have had to stay for 25 years but could have done a post-war-Germany with the time and resources. But as soon as the country was actually stable, Obama was in office.

Not that I've seen but I shall look again in a moment. There was something about British Special Forces and MI6 ops in the far east.
Picrel is a British "flying pig" trench mortar. So named because it's distinctive, large, low velocity projectiles were easily visible in flight.
Supposedly, it could blow the uniform off a man.

Turns out that particular spit flew 57 combat sorties throughout the war, by 13 pilots including two Americans (one of whom was the shortest pilot in the history of the RAF at 4'10) and two Poles. Her pilots racked up 11 kills before she was handed over to a training squadron in the latter half of the war.

When I was there they had a genocide exhibition and there was guard at the entrance who collected our cameras for some reason. No photos allowed when beholding the shoah apparently. While the exhibition was 70% holocaust centered there was also a portion about the war crimes committed by russians against the Germans after the war which was a nice touch.

Np. It's a small museum compared to say, the British Museum or Natural History Museum, but it's really well done and my favourite.
Other bigger /k/ museums in Britain are Bovington Tank Museum and RAF Duxford. If you get the chance go to Bletchley Park too.

Wasn't a Corporal Leaky awarded the VC like 2 years ago? I remember reading news article, apparently he ran from his position to grab a MG from another, ran it back, and then ran out again to drag a wounded American into cover. They were under fire the whole time.

"My Lord the gun!
In a good temper,
He shoots like a dream!
When hot and sulky and steaming
He jams sometimes or jibs,
And then men pet him
Bathe him down,
And stroke him with cloths,
Fuss with oil cans
Till with a roar
he leaps into action again
His snout tilts upward,
Sniffing the air,
His lips slobber with smoke and flame.
My lord the Gun
Has come into his own.

>French early war uniform, brightly coloured with no attempt at concealment.
They are infantry, they are not meant to be concealed and any attempt is pointless.
>Early in the war the French launched attacks in Napoleonic-style columns wearing these gaudy uniforms.
Do tell, would it have gone any better in drab uniforms? By far the greater sin was England giving their troops tin hats until someone realized if you make it out of steel it becomes a helmet and reduce casualties.

Even compared to the French, that Austrian one looks really bright. It's in a dark room so it doesn't show well in the picture, but I find it really hard to believe it made no difference to troop survivability.

Pick one and only one faggot. Britain should have been fighting alongside Germany against the Jew controlled bolsheviks in the east. Too bad the kike influence was too strong.

Remember:
>Conquering France was never Germanys objective. They pushed the rest of Europe too far when they invaded Poland and then had to go to war against the west in order to secure their ability to dominate the Slavs and prevent France from strengthening for another war

Wrong, the Germans are second only to the Brits in terms of destroying Europe. The Brits just extend their reach of evil to other parts of the world as well.

If you mean the "Germany" that exists now, which has opened Europe to the muzzie horde (among a litany of other things) then I suppose you're right. Other than the way German handled occupation of Belgium in WW1 (most of which was exaggerated propaganda) Germany has literally done nothing wrong.

Not him, but I'm not here to explain it. What happened happened. History is history. The past is behind us. No one acted on the ideas of such a conspiracy then and no one gives a shit now.

Sure, its fucking weird and a bit creepy that all the major media outlets are owned and run by Jews, but I cannot reasonably consider this a world where there is any end game to it other than profit.

I'm not here for this bullshit, I'm here to see OP's awesome trip to one of the greatest museums of all time. I'm never here for this bullshit, I am here to talk about guns and never for a specific purpose crafted for /pol/ talk. I'm typically not one to call out bullshit like this, but this takes it too far, you aren't even trying to mask yourself. Fine. I'll bite, just shut the hell up.

All agreements happened previously. Even if there were doubts of the Soviets before, they still had the manpower and the military to be a great asset. It has nothing to do with the Jews. It has to do with the fact that the Russians, British, and French all in some capacity went to war with Germany, later seeking reparations for the war. With this universal goal, they beat down the Germans and got what was there's as much as that was possible. With this common goal, they were willing to unite when the Germans pulled some shit. Especially with the German's "revocation" of the non-aggression pact.

What the fuck are you even implying? What about any of this screams "jewish conspiracy" beyond what you have been fed from /pol/?

What really stuck with me at this museum was a memorial to the 23,000,000 dead soviets in WW2. It's a small one in the garden outside.

But it's not, it's just an outgrowth of the nationalistic fervor that swept the continent a half-century prior. If anything it was exacerbated by the turmoil of having a generation killed and the economies of the major powers devastated.

I mean you can try and blame communism, but that's just another reaction to the same problem.
