I mean fuck, why not? It's a neat concept. Now all I think they need to do is make one that is spring loaded or something so that you could simply take the barrier, toss it on the ground in front of you and it would pop up into shape.
>>34780220
>spring loaded
>toss it on the ground in front of you and it would pop up into shape.
Oh yes, sounds so cartoonish, this is ACME tier
>>34780220

What ever happened to those bullet proof blankets they were gonna put in schools?
what exactly is the use-case for that?

Presumably mass shootings not involving rifles.

Any shootout with delincuents. Those things can last for too long on stalemates
It's usefull to be able to advance without depending on pre-built on site structures (walls, columns, etc)
>>34780134
How long until Bulletproof Umbrella?
Uhhhh
It's gonna fall over pretty much immediately after catching a bullet
Did they really not think of that

>>34780134
Stupid. They should make armored police cars with firing ports and turret on top instead.

they cost money and protect against an eventuality on par with being struck by lightning.

yeah, this shit was on pbs a while back.
hold on while i deploy my bullet deflecting womb.
That's a really great idea but what's the cost
Like actual dollar cost
It'd be better if there was some form of anchoring device as well so that you don't get it sliding around when people and huddling behind it
I think if it's not more than like $1000 per shield it could see really good use
>>34784441
Neat, but sorta big, i though about something more suited for patrol car.
>>34784898
i believe the whole point was in the portability gained by using origami in the design.
when lead get to flyin', i'm not too proud to duck behind one.
>>34784898
anon I don't know how to tell you this but the yank police have been using gear and vehicles from the army for a good while now
They have MRAP's for fucks sakes
and the LRAD for maximum fuckage
>mobile cover deployed
>>34784943
This rises teh question what tactics would be sued with such cover. Most common dangerous situation is car stop. Deploying cover every time? Too cumbersome.
When SHTF officer may simply have no time to deploy cover ( And cover doesn't protects against rifle rounds and can be flanked.):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6z8q4lOrDU
With armored vehicle procedure is easy and natural, police officer or his partner stays in the armored car and can deploy his pistol or patrol carbine for total safety of the car if SHTF. Total advantage over this stupid cover.
>>34785078
>They have MRAP's
In SWAT. I am talking about armored patrol cars. as standard police vehicle.
>>34785249
Regular pd as well. They don't use them often but pd for aurora co has some
>>34785249
>standard police vehicle
Christ ur dum m8. They'd be massively expensive, and people would rightfully riot over the militarization of police. Not to mention the chances it'd ever be shot at are very slim. Unless you're policing in South Africa or something that's not gonna fly.
