Gonna buy a cz 75-sp 01

Who has best price? I've seen them go for $899+free shipping. but havent seen that lately.

Also how long can Canada post / purolator etc hold a package that is a firearm-- or Does Canada Post only require a signature or do they require a signature and verification of the PAL?

tl;dr I've never mailed a firearm before

They hold them same as any other package check their policy.
Signatures are required, non CP companies do tend to verify ID(Driver licence is fine).
Canada post does not allow firearms to be sent airmail unless the address is remote airmail only.
Anyone in your household can receive a firearm for you.

Burger here. I know SKSes and STV40s are dramatically cheaper in Canada than in the US, is there really no legal way to import one? I have a C&R license, and I know ATF Form 6 is a thing, but my knowledge of the subject ends there.

No. You're getting cucked by burger import laws.

Most scope mounts have a bad habit (as in almost every other round) of catching brass on the way out jamming the action.
CASM mounts tend to be the best and scout mounts avoid the problem entirely but limit the types of usable scopes.

Welp lads I got my permanent posting last week and I'm going to Cold Lake.

As a BC boy the winter is gonna kill me, but I'm excited to get a little more into the cowboy culture desu, interior BC is cool and all but Alberta seems to have a way better gun culture.

Anyone from out that way able to recommend and good gun ranges/gun stores?

Sebarms, P&d, milarm are the only worth while gunstores, but theyre in Edmonton, wildwood gunrage is top tier, but only allows 700 members so its not busy as fuck all the time like CHAS who has like 2000 members at their range. I couldnt tell you about anything near cold lake tho, maybe someone else can

Best place to ask this question I suppose:

Queen's Own Rifles (infantry/parachute) vs. Queen's York Rangers (armoured recce) -- which should I go for?
>>
>>34786556
Mostly have to look at the used market, I'd like a good condition one with original markings but there hard to find
>>
>>34787483
Go with the Rangers.

The state of the Canadian infantry is beyond the level of "Stupid shit to make you tough", it's at "Stupid shit because we can't afford to let you do anything else". Your unit won't be able to send you on a parachuting course unless you wait around until you're a cpl/mcpl.

Meanwhile, if you go into res rangers at the least you'll be able to do a less shitty ex every couple months hopefully.

Canadians I need your perspective. I live in Alaska. I'm thinking about bringing one gun moose hunting this season. My .308 win. 25 rd battle rifle I've been sighting it and shooting it all summer. I figure with the battle rifle setup for both long range and short range, I can double lung a moose and mag dump a grizzly if I have to.

But my hunting cadre say 308 isn't enough for either. They're packing 300 win mags/338s and 454 casull/500 sw sidearms. I just want the one gun.

Syrup brothers ask your dads if 308 is enough for moose and grizz.
>>
>>34788787

Plenty of people hunt moose with .308 and seeing how many elephants have been killed with AKs Im sure mag dumping a .308 into a grizzly will be enough to kill it.
>>
>>34788787
My dad and grandfather used to hunt moose using .303 out of an old Lee Enfield so I would think .308 is more than fine.
>>
>>34788883
I'm beginning to think it just the Alaskan mentality (like the Texas mentality) to blame for their unsubstantiated hatred for 308. Also they both drive jacked up diesels.... So do I but that's because it was my dad's pet truck. Pretty sure they're trying to compensate
>>
>>34788787
I don't hunt, but the rule of thumb the hunters I know told me is that a .308 will reliably take out any animal on the North American continent, I think it's like a general consensus thing, like a rule of thumb that common, not just among people I know
>>
>>34788906
I thought so. my granddad used a 1903 Springfield

I've killed four moose and an Elk with 308. A little more bullet weight would be welcome for grizzles, but I wouldn't feel under gunned with a 308.
>>
>>34788787
I remember hearing that 7.62 x 54r is more than enough to deal with any game in North America, so that or calibres in that ball park should be fine. Dunno for sure though, not into hunting yet.

>>
>>34789078
Thanks. That's a boost of confidence. Even though my 308 isn't a bolt action I'm confident inside of 150 yards. I've got 3 moa out to that range without a rest of any kind. This would be the first time I have hunted with anything other than a bolt action 300 win mag
>>
>>34788787
You can take out grizzlies with .308, but I often hear it's still underpowered and .375 H&H or .338 Lapua are better options.
>>
>>34789078
What kind of inhuman puts a scope on a scout rifle?
>>
>>34789435
How many 375 can you get off when charged? One? What are the odds that's going to hit where you want it to? However if I have 25x308 and I mag dump into a charging bear....the math is good.

Yes, 7.62x39 is enough for grizzly or moose, a little unorthodox but it will do the job if need be. A semi auto would be much better for follow up shots. So 308 is enough. I use my Winchester m70 in 30-06 for them heavier bullets

Great option if you have a stable career and a good relationship with your employer or are unemployed. It is a large time commitment and the army dicks people around a lot with courses, IE booking or canceling on extreme short notice.

If you are well established at work and your employers dont mind all the fuckery that will take place with your schedule then you will be good to go. Otherwise you are asking a lot from your employer as the reserve BMOQ is at least a month and then trades training can take anywhere from 3-5 months to complete depending on trade.

You seem to be really knowledgeable, so let me know your thoughts on this. I eventually want to go to medical school, hopefully next year. I know in the reserves, they don't really break your balls, i.e. you only have a few hours you have to commit per week, which I think I could handle while in medical school, but what do you think? Is becoming a reserve officer and going to med school too much? Would I be better off becoming an NCM?

I used to be squeamish when I was 10. Then my dad and uncles put me through their version of the animal holocaust. Hunting everything. Blowing away muskrats with a 12ga for existing . shooting little birds with a pellet gun putting firecrackers in them while alive or not. And throwing them up in the air and watching them blow the fuck up. Catching a cod skinning and filleting it while alive watching it still wriggle despite missing 90% of what made it alive. Shooting a dahl sheep watching it roll down a mountain, struggle to its feet then shooting it in the head immediatley. Watching old ”hunting" videos where grandad dynamited whole bays of seals and scalped them for the bounty . They pulled me away from the granturismo screen and hurled me, crying, into the bloodiest decade of my life. And now when I can finally see the essential justice of strong kills weak. You tell me I'm wrong for not crying at funerals. Crying is for the weak and the weak are a step away from being dead and I have to be strong to support the weak ones i love, lest the strong take them. Sooooooo........fuck I lost track of the topic

My understanding is you need to write to into ATF to get their permission. It's a waiver for alien's to bring a firearm into the states, I think. You might need to contact DHS too. I read the ATF waiver lasts a year and can take 2-3 months to get.

I moved from Toronto to Vancouver last October, but I drove through Canada since 1) I didn't think I'd have another chance to see the prairies anytime soon, and 2) I didn't want to get banned from US for life if they caught me with my 22 in the back.

NEA102. Literally an AR10 that's NR.
>>
>>34808367

Modern AR-10s, the RCMP argues, are based off of the AR15. By basing the NEA102 off of the AR102, an indisputably older model than any AR15, they can claim it isn't an AR15 variant.

Would it be legal for me to drive down to the states to, say, Pennsylvania, buy less than 5000 rounds of .223 and transport it to Canada for personal use?

If you get caught by the authorities in the states then you're likely screwed. Canada doesn't care what you bring as long as it's less than 5000 rounds, but the ammo is ITAR restricted last I heard. Which means you can't export it. And in most (if not all states) you have to be a US resident to purchase/own/carry ammo anyway so it would be illegal to get it in the first place.
>>
>>34810492
So a US resident can't buy ammo and bring it to Canada even when Canadian authorities allow it?

3 questions:

1. Why do I see unrestricted shotguns with under 18.5 inch barrels (restricted length?)? Do they have some exception or something?

2. How do shotgun capacity laws work? I've heard that 3 is the limit for hunting, but from my understanding, as long as you aren't using the shotgun for hunting, then there is no "hunting" limit applied, as such the manual action shotgun has no magazine limit as it falls under manual action firearms and then aren't limited to 5 rounds as semi-auto long guns are?

I have only ever cared about rifles as a gun owner for the longest time and as a result had no care about the shotgun "subculture", and have very little idea about what's what.

3. If I am buying some militaria off of the CGN EE (bayonet), how do I ensure that I don't get scammed, should I ask for ID or contact info or something? Does the buyer typically pay before the seller ships?

Thanks and cheers!

26" overall length for manual action firearms, 18.5" barrel length for semi auto to be non-restricted, and 4.1" and more to be restricted.

This. If it's below that it needs to be manufactured at that length from the get-go.

Don't think you can bring any Chinese or Russian weapons with you. Embargo of them even when in transit

So horse gestapo won't care if I make a 5-round extension to my nugget magazine, or make a shotgun tube extension?

They would not care, no.
What puzzles me is that I've seen some semiauto shotguns in stores with the factory tube extensions, and only something like a fixed dowel blocking them to 5. Are they really that pathetically easy to defeat with shotguns?
I mean then again the one on my SKS' follower isn't really any better, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Check your city/municipal by-laws. You can go to city hall and acquire the by-laws (in printed format) for free. Otherwise, give them a call and they will let you know or direct you to someone whom you can acquire the answer from.

>>
>>34823197

like $2500 for "rare hard to find italian police T2 garands" that were actually built off fucking parts kits with horribly indexed barrels, and bolts that were welded and ground with literally zero contact on the locking lugs in battery. they were IED's waiting to happen.

people called him out on his bullshit on CGN, he threw a shitfit and got all self righteous as he usually does in such circumstances, then was promptly removed from CGN entirely. he's still on GOC, where all he does is bitch about CGN.
>>
>>34823235
Lmao i got my garand for $700.

Looking on his website he has an an unissued stock for 175. I can order one from the states for much cheaper than that. Infact all his parts are expensive as shit.

What a jew

what's RWDS stand for?

also, can AR fags weigh in on this: Mk18 has 10.3" barrel and everyone online says 5.56 basically becomes a 22lr past 50 years with shorter barrels like that, since no fragmentation velocity -- is that really true? Why would all the high speed low drag boiz be using it if it severely neuters the cartridge performance?
>>
Why the fuck do so many people on the CGN EE ask you to email them for pictures. Like you're gonna get less people wanting to buy your shit because you're too inept to use HTML and have the image on your forum post.
>>
>>34827464
I don't know if that's true, but I imagine since all those ELITE OPERATIONAL OPERATORS do so much more extreme close-range work than most grunts it makes some sense for them to use really compact ARs.

In addition, TradeEx got a whole bunch of Swiss Milsurp in- Schmidt-Rubin Swiss 1897 Cadet rifles, K11 Carbines, 1889 Rifles, 1896/11 rifles, 1911 long rifles, and even some revolvers. Most of those are still in stock, and a bunch take modern 7.5 Swiss ammo (the older ones take the GP90 and whatnot)

>>
>>34834217
Only if it isn't a handgun, or it will be treated as restricted.

Flintlock, wheellock and matchlock revolvers existed, but they still had the problems of the types. Figuring out how to make a flintlock more reliable and with shorter "lock time" would be useful.

Try all of the GunBroker type sites. Keep in mind the Ithaca's from that era don't really have interchangeable barrels. It might fit, but it might not.

Have you considered having your barrel shortened to say 24'' and having choke tubes added?
