What ever happened to this stupid thing?

"Dem Pograms"
Company went out of business in 2012 because nobody needed what amounts to a giant shotgun.

It turned out it was stupid
This thing is kinda the Tsar Bomba of firearms; neat but so overpowered it's militarily useless.

This, what use does this have? Missile defense against a single target? Not to mention the barrel length issue
>>34773989
It's a massive re-usable claymore that can't be carried everywhere you could need it, so it's next to useless.
Despite popular opinion, they did actually have more than one product.
Imagine having a gun using this system but instead of switchung mags you snap a ne barrel into place

They tried multiple iterations, including a revolving pistol and a steyr-integrated grenade launcher. Runs into the same issues as the stationary system. First few inches of projectiles will be fired from practically no barrel, translating into zipgun-tier ballistics. Doesn't really have much application, high RoF really isn't that valuable in infantry weapons when most engagements are won by longevity rather than being able to dump the most lead in the shortest time.

>twice as heavy and ten times more expensive than magazines

embassy rooftop to courtyard protection

Minigun or Mk 19 accomplishes the same goal

Their 3 shot grenade launcher was pretty cool but that didn't sell either.

You can put it in the end of a corridor and use it to clear it, but then again poisongas could do the same.

We are using them as engines for spacecraft.
More bullets doesn't always mean less problems.
But what if I'm trying to create a final boss tier base that requires you to reload and rage quit multiple times?
This would have been fine home defense weapon, prove me wrong

As a gun it's heavy, bulky, and the ballistics change with each shot. As a grenade launcher/mortar it offers no benefit over conventional systems with the added drawback of long periods of downtime when reloading. Basically only some iterations of the concept were viable and even then they'd be relegated to such niche situations it wouldn't be worth the logistical hassle.
