One of my overseas junket deployments was to the US teaching marine and rangers how to do land nav with compass and maps (amongst other things)
We had lots of fun... well, I had lots of fun, mostly they got lost, stung by wasps and fairly sure 'mutiny' was mentioned quietly by some of their troops more than once when it involved going through a swamp instead of around. Their little faces beaming at me at 2am imploring 'make the bad man stop hurting us' where memorably adorable for sure.

Think if I was a good officer I might get born again as someone who doesn't have anything to do with the military again, if you're a bad officer you might come back as a donkey in an Afghan village or an NCO.
