What are /k/'s opinions on AR10s for medium-long range marksmanship/engagement?
Seems like a pretty flexible weapon platform for non-extreme CQB situations. I'd like to add something tailored for longer range to my collection.
Opinions for this model specifically would be nice. Everything I read about this rifle online seems pretty positive.
its a great idea

Anyone here actually have/use AR10s?

no, its just for looking at

Larue makes good shit. It's best to have a 20" barrel because you gain 50 fps/in of velocity between 16" and 20". You could scope that and use it at longer ranges.

Glad to get some input anon. The only thing holding me back is the fucking $3370 pricetag. I want it and could probably afford it, but I want to make sure I get good value for my money.

I'm not sure it's $2000 better than your standard $1000 AR10. But Larue stuff is good.

$2000 / $.40 per round = 5000 rounds

A folding stock makes it no less than that much more useful. Fuck everything about the AR receiver extension. The linear action results in superior precision, but that means fuck-all when it's so cumbersome.

Could you give me a breakdown of your ar-10 parts?

If you are just looking for a whole system and not building it up, Patriot Ordinance Factory has a very reliable platform. I have also heard very good things about LWRC. A nice one of either of those will run you more like $2k. Ive seen people testing the POF ones and not being able to break them through any conceivable use, and have heard claims the other will hold up as well. Personally, I like the POF ones slightly better just from holding them, but haven't shot either.
