News flash Paul, how much a soda explodes when you shoot it doesn't mean fuck all.

What exactly does anyone learn from Hickok? He gives very basic information that someone could find themselves in 30 seconds, and then over the next 20-30 minutes slowly fires a handful of rounds or magazines depending on the gun. Worst of both worlds in my opinion, which is why I stopped watching years ago. If you want to learn, there are channels for that, and if you want to see shooting, there are channels for that. Actually, his tests are better than ballistic gel, because they demonstrate how bullets performances radically change when confronted with rapidly changing densities. The meat target actually does a much better job of simulating that then ballistic gel.

That's the problem with ballistic gel, that everyone who thinks it shows anything meaningful completely miss. Projectiles change their behavior radically based on the density of what they are hitting, and shifting densities can cause all sorts of unexpected behavior. Gel only gives you, at best, an approximation to make a semi-accurate guess as to what a bullet will do because it is a consistent density throughout. There is a reason even .380s appear to meet all minimum penetration requirements, but end up regularly stopping dead as soon as they hit actual bone.
