So when it comes to camo hierarchy- who is on the top of the heap?
Is it multicam?
Or is it one of the Gucci/boutique brand?
Or does the pastel/FDE/Coyote Tan Mr Grey look win out now?

Seems we started with OD and khaki, tried a bunch of patterns, and now we're back to khaki and OD and grey....

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a $5 battle coat and a $50 battle coat?

The best camos will always be varied depending on the environment. I prefer Nordic (and Finnish) camos for my green forests, and Swiss camo for my Eastern US woodlands.
>>34766663
The difference will always be in quality, unless we're talking about surplus, as sometimes the cheap stuff can be better than the expensive stuff.

I live in chaparral type scrubland where there is an even mix of brown sand and dried grass and green cacti and scrub bush plants, so the original woodland MARPAT works best for me. I have a $4 jacket I got at an "antique" (read: "junk") shop, but I never wear it because digital camo feels super tryhard for some reason.

one is new, sealed in a bag and smells good

one has "cosmetic damage" and smells like a boiler room operation assistant manager's sweaty asscrack
>>
>>34766327
The correct answer is always Flecktarn
>>
>>34767463
>I prefer Nordic (and Finnish)
Sounds interesting....where would find such things?
>>

Multi cam is the direction that everyone is going right now because of extended 15 year wars in the Middle East. They want something that looks ***good***in air at environments, and looks ***good***in Woodland environments. In all reality it's fine but mediocre. The army is just happy to have it after the UCP disaster. The military would be better off going back to the desert/Woodland set up kind of like the Marines have. But the army had to go to any camo shit hole path that is been going on for the past 10 years. In all reality camo is highly dependent on what environment you're in and all purpose camouflages are always just ***good***

I would still take OCP inna woods over marpat. Even snipers prefer it.

woodland and choco chip is the only camo you need. FUCK ucp and multicam, looks like baby puke

Finnish camo is superior.

mainly because of the non-retarded development process which included processing thousands upon thousands photographs of the environment

and they made it aesthetic too

Are you asking for the best camo pattern, the best jacket brand or the best jacket configuration?

I only know about a few brands in my own country so prob not interesting.

But if I could choose without looking at the price:
- The best camo pattern is whatever works in my local temperate climate.
- the best jacket design is one that keeps me warm and dry in wind and cold and snow but still allows for breathing when it gets warmer just a few hours later.
- the best jacket configuration supports a hood, inbuilt or add on, and has good roomy pockets that are out of the way.
- the best jacket shell is new so that it is fully IR-treated and repels water.

My current favorite field jacket is a British Soldier-95 temperate zone DPM field jacket; it is barely insulated but I don't roam around much in deep snow in the winter. The IR protection is probably gone by now but I am not really being chased that often by the police or Spetsnaz.

Some of the best surplus shops are located in Europe. Just find out if they ship to your location. If the stores in England and UK ebay don't turn anything up. I usually look up a uniform along with an appropriate translation of pants or shirt. It's how I tracked down Swedish M90 and Norwegian M98.

Camo cat laughs at your attempts to become concealed.
Camo cat also hisses when you step on him.

Any recommendations for shops? Im based in Europe and can get finnish, british, german and french stuff without a problem, but dont know a good shop for norwegian and swedish stuff.
>>
>>34774230

Some good Norwegian stores with web pages are Pentagon and Forsvarsbrukt. There are maybe half a dozen others, catering to the army truck specialists or professional soldiers who'll bay four time ebay prices for the best stuff.

The Norwegian stuff was hard for me to find. I happened across a surplus store in Norway, and it's how I got all my Norwegian stuff. The Swedish was easier. I used UK ebay to find my shirt and flecktarn. co.uk in order to get my pants.
