>the Springfield XD is a true gun enthusiast's handgun
Back when it was just a license-built HS2000, I liked it. It was the centerfire pistol I did most of my learning on, and so I remember it fondly. Everything since the XD-M is a mistake, though.
I recently picked up a Glock 17 Gen 4 for only $310.49 a couple weeks ago due to a website misprint that the seller honored.
There aren't certain neighborhoods where you just can't allow yourself to relax around people.

I carry a snubby, because if anything takes more than 5 shots of .38 to resolve, I should have brought a rifle.
>classes are a waste of money
Typically, the person who says this is busy buying his 11th generic plastic pistol, that he cannot shoot if his life depended on it

I'll second this.
Usually they have guns with basically zero wear marks, and only 2, maybe 3 mags for any given gun.

What's wrong with only owning 2 mags?
>>34764585
Yea i dont get that.
im not pretending to be some larperator.
if i have to use my gun it will be taken care of without going through a single mag.
let alone even needing to shoot.

This means you don't shoot seriously. Any sort of productive shooting session will be interrupted by constantly having to load magazines, chances are you have a bunch of stupid shit you spent your money on that could have been spent on 3 more $20 magazines.

It's funny, the people who try to deflect any sort of accusation (when it isn't even mentioned) of being a mallninja are the first to try to rationalize any action with some weird pseudo-tactical nonsense.
I couldn't take you seriously if I knew you. Hell, I don't even take you seriously just now.

yea stupid stuff like range time and a speed loader.
>niggers are productive memebers of society

I'd consider a pistol class except i cant be sure that $200 classes are actually worth anything around here; so many "REAL MILITARY EXPERIENCE" types and its hard to verify efficacy.

Get a class instructed by an ex or current LEO if you can. Cops know a lot about pistol fighting - moreso than your average McDojo Spec Ops Airborne instructor anyway.

>Glocks are reliable firearms that you can depend your life on.
>>34765621
whats a reasonable cost? I dont want to get ripped off for half the cost of a good pistol to learn the basic "dont point it at something you dont want to destroy" and "put the dots in a line" stuff.
>>34765622
Haha, anon. Where did you find this one?!
>>34765622
fuck you
Glocks are top level but like any gun, they're not dumbass proof
>>34765622
and to think all of that could have been prevented by either a lone wolf barrel or not buying "Bubba's lead reloads".
Either of which would have cost significantly less than the whole gun, reconstructive surgery and their pride.

oh god we got an elite operator over here

This is me,lol

LE experience isn't required for a pistol class. What it all boils down to is if they can actually teach or not. Now, a pistol class that also includes things like criminal behavior, personal tactics and detailed reports of violent crime may be beneficial if taught by a current or former LEO. Instructors like Greg Elfritz, Wayne Dobbs, Tom Givens are some examples of this. Varg Freeborn is one of my people I want to take a class with for his unique perspective in violent crime especially.
Doesn't matter if the guy was a top sniper in LA's SWAT team or if the dude was a SEAL, if they can shoot well but can't teach for shit, not someone worth taking a class with.

You really don't need to spend more than $500 for a class. Look at pistol-forum's pistol class AAR list and you'll get an idea on what to look for.
