Sig P226 DAK (640x480).jpg
298KB, 640x480px
A sig p320 compact (a gun I've shot and found a little floppy)
A Glock 30s (a gun I've shot and found less floppy than the 320)
A sig p226 in 40 (I've never shot 40 or a 226)

Also, what is 40 like to shoot? Is it manageable? Would you let a first time shooter use one?
>>
Flippy not floppy eww thanks autocorrect
>>
>>34761495
I learned to shoot on a P229 in 40SW. Definitely usable for a first timer, but it is flippy.
>>
>>34761495
>is it manageable
Female FBI agenst can manage with it
>>
>>34761495
>Also, what is 40 like to shoot? Is it manageable?

On a full-size like a P226, it's fine. About as much recoil as a 1911. I think when people complain about the "snappy" recoil of the .40, it's probably because they shot it from a compact.
>>
>>34761495
Glocks tend to have better recoil management than Sigs, as a general rule. I have fired, side-by-side, a Glock 20 Gen4 against a Sig P220 10mm, and a Glock 23 Gen4 against a Sig P229 .40, and even though the Sigs were the heavier guns in each of the match ups, they had a stronger recoil impulse and more of a tendency to flip the muzzle up.
>>
>>34761495
My gf shoots my p229 just fine.
It's odd though she's a better shot with my 10mm and I don't know why.
>>
>What's flippier
You should be asking which gun is flappier.
>>
Never shot a 320 or a 226 in .40, but a Glock 30 is about the least "flippy" gun I've ever shot, especially with the finger extensions on the magazines. It seems to just snap right back on target.

The 229 in .40 isn't bad. It's nothing like the Glock 22 which is a "flippy" motherfucker. It's not as nice as a 228 in 9mm, though.
>>
>>34761668
I had the exact opposite experience with my 229 and my Glock 23. Recoil seems much tamer with the 229. My Glock 20 seems better than my 23, but that just might be because I expect recoil with it.
>>
>>34761601
No they can't. That's why the FBI went to 9mm. That's a fucking woman thing, though. Not a .40 thing.
>>
>>34762288
>>34762301
Are your Glocks gen 3 or gen 4? That's something I have NOT personally compared directly - I only own gen 4's and they are wonderfully soft-shooting.
>>
The p226 in 40/357 is not flippy at all, grease the rails and get some pink springs for maximum effect. The 9 is fucking butter, like shooting 22lrs.

I love my P226 and USP9, bot are soft as hell even compared to my now sold CZ75 SP01.
>>
>>34762313
Gen 4 is fucking snake oil, if Glock didn't give people an extra mag it wouldn't have taken off at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_s8e6zkI3w

If you don't own fucking guns then go ahead and get a Gen 4, but if you own a fucking Gen 3 there is no point in selling it for a Gen 4.
>>
>>34762338
All I'm saying is I own a gen 4 Glock 23 and 22, as well as a few in other calibers, like the 20, and none of them are snappy whatsoever. The Sigs I compared against both recoiled harder and flipped more. If you had the opposite experience, I'm just trying to figure out why.

I have owned a gen 3 Glock 20, although not at the same time as the gen 4 version, but I feel like the gen 4 Glock 20 doesn't recoil as stoutly as the gen 3 one did.
>>
>>34762368
Grip design and hand size/shape have something to do with it, too. It's not unusual for different people to have different experiences with pistols.

My only Gen 4 is a Glock 19. The others are all earlier generations.
>>
>>34762368
My p226 in 9mm is the softest shooting gun in my collection. That being said, this one is a Exetershit Mk25 with a heavier front end. I heard the older Sigs or W. German sigs are snappier due to their thinner frame and forge slide, if you have one of those then that might be the case.
>>
>>34762414
Both the P229 and the P220 10mm are Exeter Sigs.
>>
>>34762338
gen4 mag release blows all previous gen glocks out of the watter
>>
>>34761495
Get a 9mm or a 10mm. 40 is a joke and is for people who can't make up their minds.
>>
>>34762537
Every caliber is a compromise. You are a joke for thinking in absolutes.

I have a similar question, whats flippier, a 380blowback or a 9mm tilting barrel? I want to get my first carry gun, and I have a gimped main hand.
>I fucked up my wrist not long ago, and my CCL just came in the mail
>>
>>34762649
It's impossible to say based on those parameters alone.
>>
>>34762662
ok, HK P2000 vs Sig P232
>>
>>34762686
About the same.
>>
>>34762709
no offense, but can you provide any evidence or reasoning to that statement?
>>
are p220 legal in CA? there's one on sale for 300 bucks comes with a ss 8rnd mag...
>>
>>34762734
The P232 is an all metal pistol with a good amount of weight to it to dampen the recoil. The P2000 is lighter, is chambered in a more powerful caliber, but has a locked breech design, which dampens the recoil. I've shot the USP Compact in 9mm although I've never shot a P232, I have shot a Browning 1955, which is an all steel compact .380 pistol. You need some weight in a blowback .380 or else they can feel pretty snappy.
>>
>>34762736
Theres a CA DOJ roster list online. You'll have to refer to that.

And after you have, you then have to convince out of state seller to sell to you, a lot of people just don't even bother with CA buyers.

>all metal pistol with a good amount of weight to it to dampen
>but has a locked breech design, which dampens
thats pretty much what I was thinking, though I wish I could get someone's input that has shot a p232 and p2000 and be able to compare them first hand. they seems to be a rare breed
