which one and why?
>>
>>34758570
Neither. The .45 ACP is a dead caliber.
>>
>>34758570
The Glockā„¢, metal detectors can't sense it
>>
>>34758570
Both, .45 ACP is an excellent caliber
>>
>>34758570
I wouldn't recommend a glock in anything other than the caliber it was designed for, 9mm
>>
>>34758570
1911.
I don't like how double-stacks feel in my hand, and since I'm stuck in CA, the capacity-advantage isn't applicable here.
>>
>>34758570
Both.

Both. They each have their own advantages applicable for different situations.
>>

The bottom one. safeties are for pussies!!

What the fuck is that, and why do I want it?
>>
>>34758570
i own multiples of both and love them both but each has a place
>>
>>34758570
How about the one that has a decent trigger pull so you can actually hit your target. By the way, it's the same one made of a material that doesn't melt from being left in a hot car.
>>
>>34758570
1911 in .45 acp and glock in 9mm. 1911 is the most known and influential handgun ever. Glock is good but why get a .45 acp glock when you can have the man stopper itself?

Glocks are great in 9mm and 10mm. I agree, in every other caliber you're better off with something else.
>>
>>34758608
It's one of the most widespread used in USPSA and other competitions. Do you know anything or do you just regurgitate stupid shit you see posted here? I bet you think Glocks actually suck like le me me
>>
>>34758778
>10mm
would be cool as long as it doesn't explode in your hand
>>
>>34758801

Colt Delta Elites have less chamber support than 10mm glawks. Let's be honest here. 10mm guns are fine, it's all those shitty joebob .40 cal reloads at the gun show that fuck up hands.

It's the result of dipshits cramming way too much powder into handloaded ammunition and then blaming their gun for exploding.
You can tell these people are low IQ because they go "Hurr polymer frame" when the issue is that the fucking chamber had to burst open for the failure to occur.

This one because it's basically the best of both worlds.

>Alloy frame, steel slide
>9MM or .40 S&W (Preferably the former)
>Safety and decocker, can be modified to be decocker only.
>15 round capacity
>DA/SA
>Compact variants for carrying
>Incredibly reliable

inb4 citing old and dumb military figures, they didn't take care of the M9 worth a fucking damn so any rattle-cage handgun would have issues in that situation. It's a meme just like Glocknade or muh stopping power
>>
>>34758570

I own both (G17 Gen 4 and a Sig 1911). Try them. See how they fit your hand. Can you hit your target when firing? Are you comfortable with the magazine size? The weight? Aftermarket parts? Price? Ammo availability?

There are too many variables to get either one (which is why I got both).
>>
Anyone have experience with .38 Super?
>>
>>34759113
It kinda does. Ammunition used in competition settings has nothing to do with ammo used for SD/HD. Are you going to sing praise for .38 super because it's a popular competition cartridge too?

Pretty much, but I think it was really common with the .40 S&W models (idk Glock models too well, sorry) and anything hotter than norm would blow it up.

Likewise though I have heard of it happening to other models but idfk.

The original post was:

>Neither. The .45 ACP is a dead caliber.

Who said anything about home defense? Regardless, claiming your opinion as fact when not asked for or even relevant to the conversation is doubly retarded.
>>
>>34759191
>B-b-but .45 has this one niche usage!
Nobody cares. If I said ".577 is a dead caliber" and you retorted with "Well it's very popular with people who LARP as late 19th century British soldiers" I'd call you an idiot just the same.
>>
>>34759244
I know you're going to strawman me again in your next post but:

>>B-b-but .45 has this one niche usage!
I guess 1911s and ammunition moving off shelves in every major retailer isn't actually happening.

You need to take a step back and get over your own personal biases. .45 ACP is in widespread use among normal consumers whether you like it or not.
>>
>>34758733
45 acp is lower pressure than 9mm so it would be ok in glock. Also glock came up with their own 45 so they know 45 pretty well. Also the g21 takes vector mags
>>
>>34758570

I grew up shooting 1911's and now I don't own a single one. In .45 it's just my Glock 21 and my 30. Both are Gen4's and a pleasure to shoot.

I don't see any practical reason to ever go back to a 1911 but I admit I want one every now and then. Not a high end expensive one. Just something like a base G.I. model to play with at the range.
>>
>>34758784
....no. .40SW is used to meet power factor for limited guns and 38 super is used for open guns. production uses 9mm because there isn't minor/major.

You derp.

I tried one, didn't like it. I definitely respect it and would like to like it, but the controls and grip don't feel as good as the M9 does to me.

Makes me wish M9's had a SA version or mod, though. If they do, I obviously don't know about it.

>For range use: 1911

>For home defense (lol just get a rifle): Glock

>For duty use: Glock

>For concealed carry: 1911

1911s are deceptively easy to carry, their far thinner slide and shorter grip really help in this regard. I like 1911s because I like SAO, and unlike any other SAO design, the safety is incredibly easy to engage and disengage (tried a USPc and hated the safety). Great trigger, great controls and ergonomics, durable and reliable so long as it's bought from a reputable manufacturer and the owner understands proper maintenance and parts replacement. As much as we like to meme, 9 shots of 45 in nearly all self defense situations is going to be sufficient (so long as the shooter has some level of accuracy - which the great trigger, etc. will help).
If not spare 1911 mags are far easier to conceal than double stack mags. In many cases you can stuff two 1911 mags in a single double stack mag carrier

It's a result of using either hot(er than average) ammunition, reloads, or both, combined with the unsupported chamber.

It's primarily the unsupported chamber, since even a factory new round might have a flaw in the casing that could allow it to KB.
