Are these good deals?

I just learned that it'll take $500 to fix up my shitty sporterized Swede I paid like $250 for. I'd rather buy another gun instead, but idk the first thing about Mausers. Help me find what I should and should not go for, also what kind of Mausers I should look for.

Last one but I'm still scrolling through listings, if I find anything I'll post it here or maybe in QTDDTOT

Can't tell if stock has been refinished; it is a later-war pattern incorrect for 1937. Decent deal if not refinished.

>>34757751
Great deal if bolt is matching. Need to know manufacturer and what numbers match.

>>34757761
If you want a Kar.98k to shoot and fuck around with and not worry about damaging, then this could be the one for you. Maybe haggle it down a bit.

>>34757767
Possibly good deal if bolt is matching. '42 shouldn't have a flat buttplate tho, so stock doesn't match.

>>34757773
Too much IMO.

Thanks a bunch anon. Top 3 are my favorites so it's good they're good deals, and I'll ask the seller about the second one's parts if they're matching or not.

Seems like Carcano carbines are still out there for relatively cheap, those worth a look? I still have a lot of types of guns I need to get, and a carbine type bolt action rifle is one of them.

My understanding is that ammo will be a pain to get and that reloading won't be easy since the bullet itself is a weird size, but I do live only a couple miles Midway USA. I personally have no experience with reloading brass, but you've got to start somewhere I suppose.

A bubba'd TS Carbine was my first milsurp rifle. I would not recommend it to anyone as a first milsurp. The ammo is a pain to find, it's an absolute bitch to reload for and if you get shit clips your rifle will feel like junk. They're a cool design and seem pretty well made.

I'd reccomend a Swedish Mauser given the quality of firearm and price point. You could also opt for a Swiss rifle, just make sure it's a model after the 1889 as reloading for 7.5x53.5 is kind annoying.

Tbh even a Yugo mauser is a better choice for a first milsurp. They're a robust design and generally in good condition. If you get one in grease the bore should be good and allow you to develop better skills as a shooter not having to take a shitty bore into consideration when measuring group size.

I guess I should have mentioned that I do currently own an M39 Mosin, but I'm otherwise still pretty new to the whole milsurp rifle thing. I'm currently just trying to get an idea of what I should look for next with bolt action guns. I'll heed your warning on the ammo and I'm thinking I'll hold off on a carcano for the foreseeable future. I'm assuming it would be a similar enough situation with the MAS 36 or K31.

A Mauser is certainly one of the ones on my radar, bonus points for the possibility to share clips and ammo with an FN-49 if I manage to get one of those in the future. My LGS also has one of those Spanish FR-8 mausers, though I have a feeling that it's probably priced higher than I should pay for it.

I want a Type 38. How much should I expecting to pay and what should I be looking out for?

Look for a matching bolt, mum remaining and other serials matching.
They go for $300-$500 depending on condition.
Here's mine, all matching with the mum, cost me $250.

If one just blues the bolt of a Mitchell's, you get a really nice K98k that looks the way it should.

The way I see it, most K98ks are mixmeisters, and these are too...but I understand the rage behind the dishonesty and exploitation by Mitchell's.

no 1 mk 3 all matching except the provided bayonet. Great condition, beautiful rifling. $450

Yay or nay.
