>After every carrier landing (which is virtually like a crash), components of the aircraft crack, break or stop functioning. The aircraft, then goes to the workshop for repair/replacement of the part, which often has to come from Russia,” Prakash said.

>A report last year by India’s autonomous auditing agency, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, said the MiG-29K was to be technically accepted despite discrepancies and anomalies.

>“Since induction in February 2010, 40 engines (62 percent) of twin-engine MiG-29K fighters have been withdrawn from service due to design-related defects,” according to the report.

>Early last year, the Indian Navy entered the global market to procure 57 multirole fighters to be used on future aircraft carriers, essentially rejecting the MiG-29K fighters.

>>
Did the Russians not do any rigorous impact testing on the components when designing the 29K? This is quite literally a very large part of designing/repurposing any planes for carrier use
>>
Should buy Chinese, lel.

Also why do they use MIGs if they just bought Rafale, why didn't the deal include Rafale M variants?
>>
>>34755564
>Did the Russians not do any rigorous impact testing on the components when designing the 29K?

Probably. Are those engines being maintained and cared for in a way the same Russian engines are? Probably not.
>>
>>34755587
They're basically totally reliant on the Russians right now as far as operations of the aircraft goes, which i'm sure the Russians are fine with, so if they're doing anything wrong I doubt the Russians will be the ones to tell them.
>>
Brown people don't belong in the skies.

Fact.
>>
>>34755528
>>34755564
>>34755628
They're blaming the Russians for their inability to maintain and understand the technology themselves.

Reminder that Indias military is a joke, and that they consider all logistics to be janitorial work that no "dignified man" should do.

indians are always complaining
according to them everything they import is substandard while their own stuff is the best in the world
they complained about the su 30 but that didn't stop them from continuing to buy them in huge numbers
they are unable to manufacture and maintain equipment as seen in multiple occasions
https://thaimilitaryandasianregion.wordpress.com/2017/04/11/hal-caught-fitting-18-brand-new-sukhoi-30-mki-with-already-used-and-secondhand-engines/
>>
Does anyone have the video of the MiG-29K landing on a carrier in slow motion where you can see the gear vibrate really fucking violently
>>
>>34755587
This. There was an article recently talking about India's lack of ability to maintain anything, even their ammunition, which all you have to do is store it fucking correctly.

India is falling apart, is it any wonder their aircraft are? They can't even shit in a toilet if you pay them. Literally, google it, some guy was trying to take pride in India (lol) and saw people who kept shitting in the street so he offered to pay them if they would just use the fucking toilet and so they beat that guy to death.
>>
>>34755528
That's what happens when you buy second hand export jet from Russia, that have been sitting in a hangar for 20 years
>>
>>34755564
Isn't this their first carrier jet?

Its not surprising they didn't get the specs right.
>>
>>34755789
No, they had the Yak-38.
>>
>>34755528
they should buy harriers
>>
>>34755803
Might do everyone a favor and kill a few of them.
>>
>>34755587
>Probably. Are those engines being maintained and cared for in a way the same Russian engines are? Probably not.

Indian military personnel aren't as incompetent as their bureaucracy. Maintenance was almost certainly up to spec. At least when it comes to western equipment, they haven't had major issues. Their readiness figures aren't any different from French or Greek when it comes to Mirage 2000. Same applies when their Sea Harrier numbers are compared with FAA.
>>
>>34755789
>Isn't this their first carrier jet?

Commies have had Yak-38's and Su-33's.
>>
>superpower by 2022
>>
>>34755564
To be fair, it's only Amerifats and Britstanis who have 70+ years experience in designing carrier-borne aircraft so don't expect everyone else to get it on their very first carrier-jet attempt.
>>

They already retired theirs iirc

>Indian maintenance.

Every time one lands at all it's a gift from fucking god. They should be thanking fucking Geneish that they work as well as they do.
>>
>>34755528
Well, russians never operate carrier before.

They have no idea how carrier aircraft should be tested or maintained.

I saw their carrier operations in Syria, it doesn't even look like carrier operations. There is no deck crew around aircraft for pre flight check and so on.
Chinese at least just copied US Navy carrier operations prosidures.

>Rampistanian Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
>>
>Russian jets that haven't seen any design updates since Soviet days despite still being in production

Now what exactly was the Indian Navy thinking?
>>

didn't they lose two su-33s already?

Even though Americans were the first to physically demonstrate the viability of seaborne aircraft carriers, we blazed that trail right along by actually being first to deploy carriers into operation. Not to mention that we showed the world how steam catapults were dramatically more efficient than hydraulic catapults.

not RIDF, and I agree that russia fucks up with their carrier all the time, but their original doctrine was never meant to be similar to western carrier ops. the Su-33 was to fill exactly the same role as the F-14 did in USN service: protection of the fleet against anti-shipping attack aircraft. people make fun of the Su-33 for being unable to take off with both a full fuel load and weapons, but in the role of point-defense of the fleet, fuel is not the most important aspect.

now would the MiG-29K have served this exact role better? of course it would. but that is a different debate.
>>
>>34761161
>>34761210
why not be like every other carrier and combine the two?

The main reason is that the towers are also chimney stacks for the two gas turbines. By separating the turbines by a large distance, and having two towers which can each if necessary do both ship and airborne operations, there is plenty of redundancy in case of damage.
>>
maybe their pilots should land their aircraft easier
>>
>>34756791
Both were caused by the arresting gear; one, the cable snapped on landing and the pilot failed to bolter, and the other (on a different day) ran out of fuel while waiting for a malfunction in the arresting gear to be fixed from the previous guy landing.

>India gets brand new Su-30 fighters
>Even though no other country has problems with them, Indian pilots declare the Su-30 to be poorly made because they keep crashing them
>Indian air chief has to fly the plane personally to restore confidence in the aircraft
>Early 2000's, the same shit: air chief had to fly a MiG-21 because the Indians were crashing so many of them and blamed it on the aircraft instead of their own stupidity
>Crashed 30 aircraft between 2008 and 2011, including 16 MiG-21's and 10 helicopters

Indians on the other hand are unable to operate and maintain anything like a normal human being and screech about Russian stuff when they break it.

Ultimately Russians don't care because Indians will keep buying replacements.
>>
>>34755528
Lmao the Kiev can't launch any other aircraft than Migs.

>the absolute state of Indian logistics planning
>>
>>34768184
Russian stuff doesn't work either.

They couldn't manage carrier strikes in Syria. They lost 2 aircraft almost immediately, then shifted all their naval planes to land bases. Then their carrier, which took 3 months with a tug to reach Syria, broke down again on the way back. Now it is sitting in a dock waiting endless repairs.
>>

>>34769211
Yeah, but for about 5 minutes Russian nationalists got the cream their pants over them deploying a carrier.
>>

Well they actually got about a week of operations in before they had the mishaps and transfered the planes onto land. That's more than what people were claiming in 2014 (Russia has no power projection).
>>
>>34755528
Two scenarios:
>russian planes a shit
or
>some sort of russian scheme where they purposely sold lack luster planes that would break often to force buyers to pay even more money to buy parts for repair
