When did this new meme way of firing a rifle start showing up?
>>
>controlling recoil is a meme
>>
>>34753547
You aint controlling recoil when you are holding it perpendicularly to the angle of recoil.
>>
you mean the c-clamp or the lean forward?

There's merit to both, but there tends to be a lot of people who exaggerate things, namely some crazy version of the c clamp.

>anon chicken wings his AR and can't control recoil for shit
>severely lacks the fundamentals of rifle shooting in general
>insecure about things he doesn't know about
>he makes himself feel better by making fun of people who don't sit on their fat asses all day shitposting and actually going out to the range and put in actual practice

Everyone is laughing at you.

what retards recoil is going left and right? how bad are you at building an AR?
>>
>>34753562
Chicken wing is an armchair general meme. It's better shooting stability, and is only an issue in scenarios like building clearing and corner cover... situations you faggots don't face.

Huh?
>>
>>34753537
>>34753560
As a tall person the C-clamp thing just doesn't work for me. If I were a manlet I would totally use it though.
As for leaning, I personally bend my knees and lock my shoulders, leaning forward, only so far as is comfortable. I do not force it all, that would be worse than standing straight IMO.
>>
>>34753684
Have you had your oatmeal and toast this morning Grandpa? You seem extra grumpy today.
>>
>>34753684
>It's better shooting stability
The hell it is. It means you're lifting the gun as opposed to passively supporting it and puts pressure in the wrist. Turns your elbow into a fulcrum, totally ergonomic.
>>
>>34753713
>Nonargument
Found the mallninja who knows I'm right. It's better support for firing a rifle in every way, and only is a problem if you don't want to bash your elbow clearing achmed's hut, or have to fire around a building or other hard cover so don't want to get your elbow shot.
>>
>>34753729
>Muh ergonomics
So you have no chest muscles to speak of, so it doesn't change the cleft between pectoralis and your joint, got it. Nice try boipucci
>>
>>34753732
>>34753750
Caring this much about how other people shoot and what works for them.

It doesn't matter what you think because you're probably too autistic and socially crippled to actually go to the range.
>>

The faggot acting like chicken winging is some fucking abortion in shooting form, or are you that autistic that you can't read?

And why go to a range when I own property?

Oh boy. Someone's getting insecure.
>>
>>34753769

>>
>>34753779
I mean, you're not actually making a constructive fact based argument either. You're just spouting your opinion and claiming it's better.
>>
This thread has turned into
>Chicken winging is shit

>Not really, for 99% of shooters it doesn't matter

>Yes it does REEEE I just don't have an reason.

Boy is it the last weeks of summer.

Sage
>>
>>34753786
Actually multiple times I explained the reason why NOT to chicken wing, and how it doesn't apply to the average shooter, so no, you're still retarded.
>>
>>34753750
>Creating more work for yourself to achieve a perceived greater "stability" of nebulous criteria and no factual basis
The shoulder pocket can (or at least should) fit a stock regardless of posture, I dont know if you're fat or just talking shit to start an argument.
>>
>>34753794
More like
>one anon explains that chicken winging is worse at supporting a gun when standing
>other anon insecurities start showing as he reeeeeeeeee's out when told
>>
>>34753814
There's literally no extra work between the two, one just creates a better pocket for the stock of a rifle than the other. I'm not having to do extra 'lifting' of the gun with my right hand at all and can pull it away without the rifle moving an inch. Are you a nogunz who watches too much YouTube, or just have no reason why you should tuck your elbow and create a shallower, or in some cases, convex point to place the stock of a rifle.
>>
>>34753562
When I went through boot camp, chicken winging was in vogue. You can control recoil just fine that way, since 5.56 doesn't have a significant amount. I've also found it to be effective with an assortment of 30 caliber rifle chamberings.
>>
i have a question.

Why do people put such importance in handgun grip and stance when all that shit you learned just flies out the window as soon as you get into a real fire fight
>>
>>34753817
His explanation makes zero sense if you've ever offhand fired a rifle. Unless it's literally one person arguing to fire 'chest on' at a 90 degree and the other one arguing to fire across the torso.
>>
>>34753836
Be careful what you say, the zero-dark-thirty crowd is going to get on you for not operating elbow-tucked.
>>
>>34753556
>You aint controlling recoil when you are holding it perpendicularly

Confirmed for not knowing how a gun works

Fuck off no guns
>>
>>34753537
>muh recoil
>from a 223/556
Haha cucks are the funniest
>>
>>34753879
Tens of inch barrel movement translates into feet off target downrange.
>>
Imo c clamp works great as support to support, ie. C clamp the rifle on sandbags or while behind cover. It doesn't help much at all standing or kneeling. I'd rather do the sling wrap for that.
>>
>>34753763
Different anon. This is a thread about how people shoot. You seem to have a problem with that.
>>
>>34753732
>Nonargument

Fuck off Yankee. No one wants to hear about you or your clearing buckets.
>>
>>34753537
>>34753556
why did you waste our time with this thread?
bored at home masturbating before school starts again?
>>
>>34753562

Chicken Wing with vertical support forearm is the best offhand shooting stance for stability.

Thumb over bore is for lots of shots on multiple targets at medium ranges in a short amount of time.

It's almost as if different things serve different purposes, anon! So weird I know.
>>
>>34753560
c grip is retarded but the "lean foward" has been used for shooting big bore rifles for decades. its dumb on an AR tho.
>>
>>34754096
No, shut up though, oper8rs don't chicken wing, so you have to leave comments on YouTube about chicken winging then come to k to argue about it while never actually firing a rifle.

How dare you act like tucking the elbow has a place in 2 way firing ranges, but chicken winging is preferable for everyday offhand shooting. How DARE you. When I get back to school, everyone in class will hear about this if they talk to me this year.
>>
As someone who holds paintball guns up for 7 minutes at a time, 80 times a day at minimum; chicken winging for sure tires you out faster and doesn't give you as good of support as actually holding your elbow down.

It's the difference of holding something easily with a stable arm, and holding something up from the side.

the reason people don't chickenwing anymore is simple: bladed stances don't allow your plates to stop boolets when they're coming back at you.

If body armor weren't a thing, we'd still be teaching bladed chicken wing stances - provides a smaller profile towards enemy + lets you use that sling up good boi.

>>
>>34754336
That's the thing though, everyone thinks they're fucking CAG, so they freak out about chicken winging... without giving anymore reason than 'you're not supposed to' or 'but my arm gets tired'. If you're supporting a rifle correctly, the only thing your deltoid is holding up is your arm. If you can't do that, you probably shouldn't use firearms in the first place.
>>
>>34754363
everyone should have to get leg points in service rifle before they're allowed to move on to other shooting disciplines
>>
>>34754388
Why bother when you can just go on k and argue about shit you've only read about or seen online, without knowing its purpose?
>>
>>34753848
I've never been in a firefight, so I can't give you any deep insight. I suspect, though, that grip is considerably more important than stance. You have more control over grip, stance winds up being however you're standing or sitting or laying at the time.

Grip is a subtle thing. Get enough range time so that you'll either a) get the exact same grip every time, or b) know how each grip variation will affect shot placement. If you're in a hurry you're probably not going to get the ideal grip.
>>
>>34753794

sage isn't a protest.
>>
>>34753560
>tfw i shoot best doing the chick lean

It's the only position that feels comfortable. Any lean forward feels forced and throws off my aim. Even in the weaver stance I tend to lean backwards.

>>
>>34754546
Are you scrawny? Put on some mass, you won't be as inclined to lean. Sticking a couple of pounds of metal out a couple of feet from your body shifts your center of gravity. Leaning back is a natural response, your instincts are trying to correct for a falling movement. Gain a little weight, you get more stability for these positions. Don't use the Doritos and Twinkies method of weight gain, though. That brings about other problems.

If you're bladed and the bullet does hit you, it's going to do a lot more damage. Lungshot is survivable, but good luck if a round goes through both.

I'm not saying you should never be bladed, but there are multiple considerations even if you don't have plates.

And the problem arises when people like those above freak out over chicken winging without knowing even why. They just know that military and LEO don't typically so you must be wrong to do it. Nevermind what the pectoralis muscle does to your shoulder pocket or why it's used for bladed offhand shooting.
