I've been on exercise with both Finnish and Germans.

I'll Take finns every damn time, the average 6 month into conscription finnish soldier is miles better than the average german soldier with 2 years service.

let me tell you the finns were bumbling idiots but they could put walls of artillery fire like its nobodies business, but the germans were downright incompetent.

On top of insufficient and outdated equipment, the Bundeswehr is under CONSTANT scrutiny for Nazi tendencies (there have been a few scandals of late) to a crippling degree. It cannot be deployed within the country's borders for any reason, and is largely disliked (or at least distrusted) by the government and populace overall.

They aren't trained to be soldiers, either. It's repeatedly pounded into them that they are 'citizens in uniform'.
